From Oil Wells to Jingle Bells-Bells,pg.66, See you in September!

Smidgy,

Thanks for the update. Really enjoyed reading it. :banana:
I called last night and made the last payment for our March trip, and while I had the CM on the line, booked two nights for Memorial Day weekend. :cool1:

I am hoping that they will come out with some codes for Florida Res. Room only discounts for that weekend. I will be stalking WDW website to find the code!!! :surfweb:

I am beside myself and have told the girls we need to start walking to get in shape for Disney.....My 11 year old DS started rolling and said, "Only MY MOM would start training for Disney.":yay:

I got a FL res code last week but it excludes that weekend. We are going 5/21 - 5/28 so I knew we wouldn't use it. I was all ready to share it with you :yay: and then I read the fine print. :rolleyes:

The fine print is always such a downer. :sad2:

Me so sad.
Yes, I know, it's only a game, and I didn't really think they'd win, but still,,,,,,maybe I had accumulated enough pixie dust to carry this team. I mean after all, the outcome of every game is dependent on what, and how, YOU, have acted on or said recently.

Yes, YOU, are that important to the outcome of a game.
C'mon, you know that, and I, I, I, most certainly know that, how many times have you said, "They would have won if I wouldn't have gone to the game?"

Or even watched the game?

Anyway, it's all over, life goes on, maybe next year, GO SOX. Just shoot me.

No no, really, I'm ok, it just takes a bit of time to get over this.

However,,,,,,,

My problem was it created a new ending, or beginning, depending on how you looked at things, at least not for me.

This "buck" doesn't totally stop here when it's supposed to.

Or rather, Yes, it does!
It stops a tad prematurly for me, I wanted the "buck", or Bears, to win one more game and make it to the Super Bowl.

No, not for the good of Chicago.
The good of me!

All right;

I promised Smidgy, the love of my life;
that I would do anything possible to continue,
the life of our love.

And that means quit smoking.

I need to quit for not only the obvious reasons, my dad died of cancer,,,, all the bad things everybody know goes with smoking,,,,,but there are other things most folks don't think about.
it can really hurt people with macular degeneration and retina problems.

"Hey, at least give me the Bears in the playoffs, ok?"

Right

So, anyway, there you have it.

Not gonna throw out my remaining smokes till they are gone, trying to time this I guess so my last smoke is at the end of the day. ,,,,,,,,and ,,,,

not planning on quitting the trip report, though I can't possibly even imagine sitting here and writing a chapter without smoking.

So, ,,,, let me say right now up front,,,,,,,

there's a slim chance you just might notice a change in the overall attitude in the reports, I will try my best to be nice,,,,,,,,

but,,,,,,,,,

I'm only human.

At least that's what my anrhropologist says.

I can do this.

Right Marita?

And Sandy?

And great, now I have the eye thing to go along with it,
I even blame myself for the Bears losing because I couldn't see the game in stereo, yeah, Thumper man, Brian Urlacher isn't getting a Super Bowl Ring all because of me, my fault.

Anyway, as they say, "Chip chip old man, " "Many people have it much worse than you do."

Absolutely correct, so I am going to be MR. POSITIVE, if anything, it should be a gas to watch Smidgy freak out.

Are you ready for a trip report with me not complaining about stuff? Wow, talk about your Bizarre! But the "New and improved Nebo " has not choice this time, he had just better be new and improved, and if it doesn't work out physically, then he had better be there emotionally.

Just for the record;
No, I never would have gone into all this in an early trip report, but I am not on Facebook and I know there are many of you that have been reading along with Smidgy and mines Disney adventures for over 4 and a half years now and I believe you to be our friends, as I relish our friendship in return. That's why I think I can get away with talking to you all this way.

So that's it,,,,, if anything, it should be fun to watch me implode trying to quit smoking, believe me, I won't hold back. I have pretty much smoked 2 packs a day since I was 15, for a long time it was more like 3 packs and I thougtht that maybe by making this so "Public" like I'm doing, I can have your backing cuz I certainly wouldn't want to let you down.

So boys and girls, are you with me?
I will tell you exactly when it starts, and keep you apprised, more than likely tomorrow night will be the last smoke I ever have. So we shall see what we shall see.
But I do want to keep this totally back on track as a Disney trip report, no, don't want this to end up in the Community section if you know what I mean, besides, I still have a shipload of pictures to post and after the whole "battery" thing,,,,,,,I"M GONNA DAMN WELL POST THEM!

(hey, I at least gotta post the picture of the Soylent Green that Diane had for dessert the next chapter)

See ya'all soon for that, hugs, steve

Nebo/Steve

I was so happy to read about ur decision to quit smoking. I wish you all the luck in the world. It is a hard thing to do-as I am sure you know but so worth it. Please feel free to vent here or send me a pm. I lost my Mom in July of 09 to COPD-caused by years of smoking. She was one month away from seeing her first grandchild go to kindergarten. I will be here to give you all the encouragment you need and a kick in the you know where if you need that too. This wil be a gift you give yourself as well as your kids and their kids. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us. Big hugs:hug: I know I am a newbie to your reports so i hope I am not coming off as psycho Dis lady-just hits close to home for me. And if you take that Sep trip and are there the last week drinks in fuzzy cups on me-I'm buying-you cant spill em.:)

well, I just got home from work 20 minutes ago. Nebo's been long asleep, I'm sure.
Was it the snoring that gave it away?

I, Nebo's worry, actually. when we kept a small cabin cruiser at a marina years ago, Nebo was the "Designated decoy". those blood suckers just LOVE him! we would make him sit at a picnic table aways away from the rest of us, and the rest of us had no problems at all!:lmao:

You told me it was so I could have a better view if our your friends were going to come down the driveway........who never, ever, showed up......:sad1:

.
ok, Nebo just stumbled sleepily out of the bedroom to see how my night went. toodles, all!

If I had known I was going to have to live with someone who use the word, "toodles", I would never have gotten married.

Twice!

I have two questions -

1. Which year in September are you planning on going back? This year or next?

hopefully this next Sept.

2. Does your lawyer have any extra points he wants to rent to me?

Maybe, but you'll have to get divorced first.

Smidgy,

Thanks for the update. Really enjoyed reading it. :banana:

Nautilus, you are a woman after my own heart, it's great to put an upcoming trip into your daily routine, as far as pin codes go, we got one,,,,,,40 percent off deluxe, 35 off mods and values,,,,,, but those dates are blackouts,,,,,if you are AAA though, that usually works for blackouts days. AAA costs 55 bucks a year to join, I think.

The fine print is always such a downer. :sad2:

Isn't it funny when they always call it the "FINE" print, when it should really be referred to as the "CRAPPY" print?
Hey, I like that. Can I quote myself on that sometime?

:guilty::sad2::sad1: i think its my fault that the bears lost too. Why do we take it so personally, when really it was that blasted Collins fault dangit.:lmao:

anyhoo Nebo, good luck with the quiting of the smokes. :hug:

looking forward to the next update, even if it is a little snotty. popcorn::

I am beside myself and have told the girls we need to start walking to get in shape for Disney.....My 11 year old DS started rolling and said, "Only MY MOM would start training for Disney.":yay:

Not true not true at all. I also tell the family to start conditioning for WDW. They boud out of the house with smiling faces to start training:rolleyes1 ok May be more like the reaction you get. I walk all day at work so I just get the last laught the first few days we are there.

YOU CAN DOOOOO IIIITTTTT!!!!

Crab away if ya need to! We'll put up with you! It will be worth it to have you around longer! :goodvibes

You can do it! It sucks, I won't lie. I still think of myself as a smoker, 6 months after I quit and I smoked 2 packs for 45 years. (hey, that reminds me, TODAY is my 6-months anniversary!) I'd send you my daughter if I could, she was a great support in a "you better quit or I'll move and and kill you before I do" kind of way. No honestly, she was so excited when I went to the laser place, it's what kept me on track for the first few weeks. Heck, she even promised to take me to a movie for my reward :laughing:

I still chew the gum and take lozenges. Great for youi can quit cold turkey, but remember, there are options if that is too hard. Is Smidgy joining you in this venture? If not, that will make it very difficult.

We'll be here for you, grumpy or not!!!

PS: Just in case you don't read the edit, Mony is a quitter too

I have not learned how to :headache:quote correctly, so bear with me!

Nebo, We will all be rooting for you because we know how difficult it is to quit tobacco. My DH dips, GROSS!!! YUCK!!! WE also have a DD who is 7 and anti tobacco who rides him like a donkey everytime she sees proof that he is sneaking when she is not around.:scared1: I do not have to say anything.

Both of my parents smoked, and both quit, but it was NOT easy. :sad2: Mom's COPD is much better now than it was 12 years ago when we nearly lost her but she is prone to upper resp infect.

I might try the AAA discounts, and my husband has a friend who is a travel agent who often gets "specials".....I might try her as well. :hippie: I also want to go ahead and book for labor day weekend too when our passes will be out of blackout again.

Sending you prayers for your quitting success. I want to be able to enjoy your trippies for many years to come.
I'm an ex-smoker too, but it's been 23 years since I quit, and I had only smoked for ten years. It was a challenge, but it helped me to think of it as "sticking it to the man," namely RJ Reynolds or whoever grows and markets coffin nails.

Think of the fun you can have with the money you save!

Nebo,
We spoke this fall when you were speaking of quitting. I was at the time too...

The Chantix has helped and so has the vaping I have been doing... Fake cigs with the taste - 6mg's when I need them and none when I don't. I have a pack and a half of the real deals sitting here not touched since 11-19-10. They are there because I said so. lol I do better if I am the one calling the shots. :rotfl:

Anyhoo... I am still trying to back off the nicotine completely and am getting there. Slowly but surely...

Good luck to you friend. I enjoy reading your TR's and if you need to vent/pop/scream, I am here for ya!

Congratulations, Nebo, on making a decision that can change your life for the better. I lied - I don't actually have cravings anymore, or maybe it was just that I knew I couldn't go back to smoking so didn't notice them as much. Anyway, I know you can do it, I have faith in you. Cold turkey! And now is a really good time - you're already depressed about the Bears loss. By the time you climb out of that hole you'll be several days into quitting and you'll associate the dark days with the Bears and not the lack of smokes. Ultimately, you could find yourself to be a Saints fan.
Oh come on - they were just saved from a really bad beating from the Steelers.
No I'm not a Steelers fan, but Big Ben and the Steelers defense did great things for my fantasy team.

Yea I'm a quitter, I've quit so many times, but this is the last time. I went 8 years once and started back up, but now, it's been 4 years, 3 months. I hate the smell of cig. smoke. I turned into one of those people.......heh.

That's why I'm on Weight Watchers now, but it is all good!

So, nebs. Cold?

I can't believe all the whining coming from a person from ALgonquin, IL who is used to harsh winters and cold. If you were from Michigan you'd be wearing shorts and it wouldn't bother you one bit. Heck, now that it is zero out, I guess I'll put on the winter coat when I go outside.

Quitting smoking will be easy, putting up with me is harder. :dance3:

On a more serious note, I am proud of your decision. :hug:

Who said that?:rolleyes1

Oh and to make you feel better, how would you like the Lions as your football team? :rotfl2:You can stop laughing and get up off of the floor.

Wow. Bears lose. You got your issues with your eye. And you're gonna quit smoking? You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din! Good luck. As you can see from all the posts, we're all rooting for ya! :goodvibes

Nebo, I am so very sorry about your Bears. I am the eternal Colts fan, but Jay Cutler is a native of Santa Claus, IN which is very closeish to me, and I have been there many times to their theme park "Holiday World". The high school he attended plays our high school in football each year, so I was definitely rooting for the "hometown" boy.

I am also sending lots of support and pixie dust and all those nice things people say that you will be able to give up smoking without a hitch. You CAN do it!:cheer2:

Do you know how hard it was not to come up with some kind of smartypants comment whilst posting on your TR? But I'll cut ya a break since life seems to be throwing you some curveballs. Do not expect this ever again.:upsidedow

In all of that pondering of the last post, the opnly thing I focused on was "Go Sox"????:confused3

Don't you mean
LET'S GO PHILLIES

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:
:banana::banana::banana:
:yay::yay:
:woohoo:

L/Y MI:hug:

Ah man. I was bummed about the Bears. I was really routing for them. I don't blame you for Urlacher not getting a Super Bowl ring. The defense played pretty good for the most part. Now Jay Cutler and the offense, that was a different story. Maybe they should've put in what's his name for the WHOLE game? Hanie was it? For the most part, I thought he did pretty good. Way better than "oh I hurt my knee sometime during the game" Cutler. Oh well. Like you said, life will go on.

Good luck on the quitting bit. DW and I both did it. We did it together so we know it can be done. :thumbsup2
