I have been reading on this site for almost a week, nonstop! popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

I have planned our first Disney vacation for our family 8/8- 8/15 during the buy 4/ get 3 free promo... Looking forward to it so much! I've been numerous times as a child, and taken the kids for a 1-2 day trip while DH was working at the track in Daytona... but DH has never been! I'm trying to speak to him positively about the vacation, so he won't focus on the HOT weather and crouds, which he hates both!

Thanks so much to you ALL for the great advice!

Hi and welcome!!!

We'll be there during much of the same timeframe, and I can't WAIT!!

Are you on the meal plan? Depending on your kids' ages and a few other variables, it can be a good dea. It is for us anyway!

Congrats and welcome! Looks like some of our travel dates will overlap. We will be at Pop 8/5/09 to 8/15/09. Where are you guys staying?

Good for you staying positive. The great thing about staying onsite is going back to your hotel/resort in the middle of the day when it is hot. Or try to plan the indoor attractions during the heat of the day. I know the "Hall of Presidents" at Magic Kingdom is a great air conditioned place. And the seats are cozy enough that even I have fallen asleep. :o)

Enjoy your trip. We are planning to go in January 2010.

Aliceacc... we are at the AS Sports... first trip with the family, I'm really trying to plan it so hubby won't get too worked up over the crowds and heat!

I am stressing over the meal plans, as to the Quick Service or the regular Dining Plan... I don't know if we will use the table service nightly, with the exception of the breakfast buffets... Are there enough restaurants that my kids will enjoy on the table services????? I know we will use the snacks, as it never fails one of the kids always wants a snack! KWIM???

YES!! How old are your kids???

Some my kids loved last year: (we did all dinners so we could get an early start to our days, and will do the same this year.)

-Dinner at 1900 Park Fare with Cinderella, the prince and the Stepfamily. They were hilarious!!! My girls wore their princess costumes (and my younger one kept hers on all night the MK.) They got autographs and loved it!!

- Dinner at Chef Mickeys-- again, great character interaction.

- 'Ohanas. I wasn't crazy about the food, but I'm in the minority here. But they had all sorts of games and activities for the kids.

- The Coral Reef. Nice grown up meal. But one entire wall of the restaurant is The Living Seas aquarium. It was an amazing wonderful backdrop to our dinner-- and I LOVED my mahi mahi :)

- This year my 10 year old is campaigning heavily for dinner at Sci Fi diner at DHS.

- I also want to try Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge.

On our last trip our daughter was 4 and she loved eating at a TS once a day. She was able to sit, relax and look around the restaurants. Each restaurant seems to have so many things to look at while eating or waiting on the food to arrive. Her favorite non character restaurant was the 5o's diner at DHS.
