Day 5, 10/21/04

The cast…

Me, Erika, 35, Disney obsessed for as long as I can remember
Dh, 37, lucky for me, while not obsessed, also loves Disney
Ds, 11, much like dh
Dd, 8, much like me, Disney Obsessed

Today we needed to sleep in, to recover from our late night, and all the running we’ve done so far. I think we were doing pretty good actually. We have already seen all the evening shows, and we are now on day 5. Much to my relief, the kids slept until 9! That is not real common, especially with my son, so I was very happy.

The kids wanted to go back to MGM today, so once we got moving we walked the path to the gates. It’s hot again today, seems to make it harder to make the walk LOL. We get to the gates about 10:15 or so, and they are packed! I am not used to arriving so long after opening, and these crowds do not look good. Dd wants to do Star Tours first, since this is now one of her favorites. Luckily the line is still very short and we get on in just a few minutes. We go for the backlot tour next. This just doesn’t seem as good as it used to. I don’t know if they will be able to make it better again, once they finish construction on the stunt show or not. I hope so. You do get a great view of the new stunt show construction though! The kids wanted to do one of those pictures again, where you pose in front of the green screen and they put you in a photo. This time we choose the one where they are surfing with Lilo and Stitch. Very cute.

We go back, again, to the Backlot Express to have lunch. We don’t eat without a fastpass, so we check to see if we can get one for Indiana Jones. Nope, no fastpasses today. Hmmm, ok, then RnR is what we want. I send dh and the kids to get food and I power walk to RnR to get fastpasses. Wow, I swear, I almost didn’t make the journey back. I was hungry and it was sooooooooooo hot! I sure was glad to spend awhile in the A/C while we ate. We went to Indiana Jones when we were done, and it was nice to sit in the shade for awhile too, I felt much better after that. This was dd’s first time in this show as well. She ended up loving it. After that we had another very strange experience. We went to use our fastpasses for RnR, our time only had 10 minutes left, and we heard this “since there is no one in line at all, keep your fastpasses and ride again” while we went through the fast pass line. Literally, the place was empty! There was not a single person in line. There were a few people inside waiting to get in the room, but that was it. Very weird. Dd knew this was her last chance to ride, and since she was having such a hard time deciding I was hoping she’d say no, since I was afraid she’d be too scared and freak. She opted not to ride again. As it turns out this upset her too. The guys went to ToT for a last ride (very minimal wait) and I was going to use a fastpass and ride RnR again, but dd did not want to go through the “chicken exit” again, she felt bad. So, I had to settle for shopping instead LOL.

Time to go cool off in the pool, and as seems to happen daily, when we get in the pool it gets cloudy. It was still warm enough, even with the clouds, for me to get wet LOL. We chose Beaches and Cream for dinner tonight. We always eat here at least once. I love the hot dogs. I ate several hot dogs this trip, so good for me LOL. We eat pretty early by Disney standards, it was 5:40 or so when we got here, and there was only 1 table open. But, for some reason they would not give this table away. They said we could sit at the counter, or wait 20-30 minutes for a table or booth. Hmmm, for some reason they were saving that table, but I did not question them. Then, just when we say counter is fine, someone gets up from another table, and they give us the one they were holding. Very odd. Someone came in a little bit later and sat at that table. Dinner was great as always.
After dinner the family went to the arcade and I checked out the gift shop at the Beach Club. I had spent my whole vacation searching for a pair of PJ’s I wanted, in my size. So far no one had my size. Then at the Beach Club of all places, I find them. I was very happy! See, doesn’t take much to make me happy, just Disney merchandise LOL.

We headed back to the Boardwalk and went to Community Hall. Matthew had been begging since we got here to go there. Actually the guys went there, and dd and I made a trip to the gift shop to pick up our load from Mouse Gears yesterday. Dd also wanted to spend her money, so she chose a Tinkerbell Barbie. Then we met the guys at CH. They all played some video games while I sat and watched. Then the wonderful woman working there, asks if we like Freaky Friday and pops it in the DVD player. I love that movie, so I watched a little bit of that until we left. Then she gives Alexa a free box of popcorn, which is her favorite snack. She is such a nice lady, we visited with her last time we were there too. Now however, I want a yummy snack for me, so we go the Boardwalk Bakery. Oh my, so many yummy treats so little room in my stomach. I decide on a Mickey Cake, which is a Mickey shaped vanilla cake covered in Chocolate. Ds chose a brownie the side of my head. The Mickey cake was not quite what I expected, it was not roll your eyes back yummy, but rather crunchy on the outside like an old fashioned donut. Different, and very yummy! I liked it a lot. We hung out for a little while, eating our snacks. We had been hoping to find Randy the Juggler who we had seen a few times on our last trip. We loved him, and we had only seen the last couple of minutes of his show this trip. We never did find him, so we went back to the room and went to bed. I always think it’s funny, my kids take some time to fall asleep at Disney, yet I can barely keep my eyes open, once I put them in bed and sit down myself. Tonight was no exception, I think I was asleep by 10:15.

I bet by next year she will be riding it! My DD would not even go on Haunted Mansion at 7, and by the time she was 9 she was riding everything! I was a little worried on RnR, she is small for her age and I was afraid she would fly right out! I made her lock arms with me more for my own piece of mind than anything. I am really enjoying your reports!
