From Epcot to MGM -- Can we do this?

We'd like to eat an early dinner in the World Showcase on one day of our trip in Dec., and then go through the International Gateway, walk through the Boardwalk and end up at MGM to see the Osborne lights. I think I read somewhere that it's a feasible walk and we've never seen the Boardwalk before, so I thought we could kill 2 birds with one stone by doing it this way.

Anybody ever done this?

Thanks, Lynn :sunny:

You sure can...Probably a nice 30 to 40 minute walk straight through.

Enjoy:)

Gate to Gate it's about 1.3 miles. Enjoy!

Thanks! We were there for a week in August and kept wanting to get over to the Boardwalk, but never made it. This seems the best way to fit it in.

We've done it many times. In fact, the last time we were there, as a family, we watched Candlelight Proc..the late show (8:15), then wanted to get to MGM for Osborne lights. We had to stop in our villa at BWV also. It took about 8 minutes to get to our villa, and then another 13 to get to MGM front gates.....we were flying!!! Normally, it should take about 25 minutes, especially if you don't have to run up to your room mid-way!!

We do it all the time. You can actually get there faster than the Friendship due to all the stops it makes.

You might want to consider eating somewhere on the Boardwalk, that way, it would break up the walk.

cutting through the boardwalk pool area will take at least 5 minutes off your walk.

If you only want to "see" the Boardwalk, staying on the Beach Club/Yacht Club side might be shorter.

I was thinking the same thing. However, it seems that whenever there are alternatives like that at WDW, "it's six of one, half dozen of the other."

Nope, I've timed it each way. Yes, I know...I need a life!! In fact, it is almost a bit longer if you stay on the YC/BC side. But as someone else said, if you cut through the pool area at BW it cuts off some time. To do this.....when you get to the Village Green area, just behind the surrey bike rental booth, take a left. Go right in front of the Wyland Gallery, on your right. Go right underneath, with the health club on your left. When you get to the pool (it's right in front of you now) go to the left side of the slide, and then onto the walkway to the left. Keep walking towards MGM. It sounds convoluted, but it really isn't.

Speaking of "no life" - at least you got to enjoy the walk. I just played around with some maps and came up with

YC/BC: .56 miles
BW: .51 miles
BW via pool: .38 miles

That's from where the path "splits" near the international gateway to the MGM path near the clown pool.

The walk from Epcot to the resorts is very pleasant, with lots of beautiful scenery.

From Boardwalk to MGM is kinda boring. It's nice, but there isn't much to see. I like catching the boat from Swan and Dolphin to go the rest of the way to MGM.

Of course, I'm biased, since the Friendship Launches are one of my favorite modes of transportation at WDW. The boat may take a little longer than the walk, but to me it's a lot more fun - plus you can sit down in an air-conditioned boat and relax.

We have done this walk a number of times, including before it was an "official walk" and had to jump the fence that was under the overpass.

When we stay at the YC we usualy take the boat over and then walk back. The lines for the boats are huge after the park closes.

:thumbsup2 Now I have the 'numbers' to back up my claim!!!
