Help. What is the best way to get to Ft. Wilderness - Hoop-Dee-Doo from the BoardWalk Villas using Disney Transportation if possible? We have an 8:30 reservation on Thanksgiving day. Will we need to use non Disney transportation to return to the BoardWalk Villas. We have been to the Villas many times but never to the HDDMR. TIA

If I didn't have a car, I would take the bus from the Boardwalk to the front of the Magic Kingdom, and get the boat over the Ft. Wilderness.

No car, it will be at the airport in Houston. :)

How long is the boat ride from MK to Ft. Wilderness, is the dock somewhat near the Hoop-Dee-Doo or do we need to allow for walking time also? Thanks for your help.

I haven't done it yet, but will on Dec. 1. I have read that it's a short boat ride, maybe 15 minutes? Pioneer Hall is very close to the boat dock, according to Google Earth anyway. :rotfl: When you get off the bus, at the end of the peninsula area, you will see the boat docks labeled. Not sure yet if there is a separate one to FW or you share with Wilderness Lodge.

You need to allow enough time to get your picture taken, too. Getting back is another story depending on which show you attend. We picked the 6:00ish one so we can go back to the MK and then take the bus to BW. Trying to get out of Fort Wilderness can be time consuming.

I tried the google earth also. :rotfl2:

We are doing the 8:30pm show. It looks like it's gonna be cab city... :rotfl2:

Before you put aside cab fare, check the hours for the MK. On Thanksgiving Day it will probably be open later and you might have a chance to get a bus there after dinner.

Taking a bus to MK and catching the boat over to Ft Wilderness. The ride is about 15 min, then less than 5 min walk to Pioneer Hall for HDDR.

After the HDDR lets out for the late show there will be buses waiting to take you back to your resort. One bus may service several of the Epcot area resorts but you definitely will be able to use Disney transport to get back to BW. The buses are in the opposite direction of the boat dock and CM should be nearby to help you find the bus.

Yes, this! When you exit Pioneer Hall, you would turn right to go to the Settlement bus stop. There will be CMs to direct you and you will get a bus back to your resort. They do this for the last 2 shows of the night, NOT the first one since MK is always open late enough to go back and grab your resort bus from there.

You can also hop the monorail to the Contemporary, then walk outside to the boat dock and take a small boat to Fort Wilderness. The hour or so before each HDDR show means a TON of people waiting for the boat at MK, so you could be in line a while just to get on the boat. Definitely plan to get in line an hour and a half before the show.

Another option to get there is to go over to DHS, take a bus to Fort Wilderness, then the internal bus to the Settlement bus stop and Pioneer Hall.

No matter what way you choose, leave an hour and a half before show time.

Take the bus to MK, then hop on the WL/FtW boat. Should take about 20 mins once you are on the boat...very pleasant boat ride. When you get off the boat at FtW, just walk up the path to Pioneer Hall...takes about 2 mins.
I would plan on leaving BWV about 7:15ish.
When the show is over, there should be buses running to various resorts. CMs will direct you to the appropriate area. It looks like MK is open to only 10:00pm, so heading back there isn't going to be a terrific idea.

FYI, the cab to FW would only drop you off at the entrance to FW and then you would have to take the internal buses around FW to get to Pioneer Hall. The internal buses have three separate routes and each make multiple stops from the front of FW to the back. So, if for some reason you do take a cab to FW, still add at least 30 minutes to get from the entrance of FW to drop off for Pioneer Hall.

For this reason, as already stated from other responses, most people staying outside of FW or WL will take the boat from MK or Contemporary as the marina is near Pioneer Hall.

Thanks to all for the information. :thumbsup2

I do have another question. Would the advice remain basically the same for Mickeys BBQ?

Again Thanks.

Yes, for getting there. Not sure about going home. I think they don't have a late show, so you would use MK transportation back home too.

Thank you so much. :thumbsup2

We have a 6:00 pm ressie for the BBQ. After dinner, we will head back via boat to MK. Thanks again.
