I just got back from my 2007 trip, and it was great! There had been some questions on here in the past about how to get to the beach from Anaheim w/o renting a car. It can be done, and it's very easy!
We were snooping around the Anaheim Visitors Center one day (just on a whim), and I just decided to ask how the best way would be to get to a beach. They run a bus, I think it's called "The Beach Bus" actually, to Huntington, then to Newport, then to Laguna. We spent 4 hours at Huntington (we've been there before, and love it) and then 4 hours at Newport (just because we'd never been there). Made a quick stop at Laguna for a pick up, then back to Anaheim. It was a great day, and I highly recommend it. Just ask the extremely helpful and nice workers at the center to explain the drop offs, and they can even recommend which beach to go to depending on what you want to get out of your beach experience.
The visitors center is located by the Jolly Roger Hotel on Katella Ave., just a few steps from Harbor Blvd. Easy to find, and totally worth it if you want to escape the hustle & bustle of the theme parks for the day.
Just wanted to share my great discovery, one that really helped make our trip even more wonderful than it already was!
