Suggestions on the best way to navigate from Animal Kingdom to Yacht Club for dinner and then back to POP.

We are planning to leave AK around 7 or 8 pm for an 8:45pm dinner at the Yacht Club. Then we will have to make our way back to POP.

I'm thinking we could take a bus from AK to YC but would need to take a taxi back to the POP. Any other suggestions?

Take a cab...it's less than $10. I think it was about $8 and we have a $2 tip when we took one from YC to POP.
It's only about a 5 min ride. If you take the boat to DHS, you may have to wait for the boat (anywhere from 1-20 mins), then it's about 15-20 mins from YC to DHS. Then, you have to wait for the POP bus to come (1-15 mins), then 10 or so mins on the bus. It could take you as little as 30 mins, as long as 50, with your actual time somewhere inbetween. Take the cab...much easier.

And we don't even know how late DHS will be open on the night in question. With an 8:45 dinner reservation, and a standard park closing time between 7 and 8, it's extremely unlikely there would still be transportation operating from DHS that late. The exception would be EMH night.

What dates are you going to be on property?
I used to work in transportation and can point you in the right direction.

October 1st is the night of this reservation. It is EMH at AK and it is closing at 8pm that night. My dinner reservation is at 845 at the Yacht Club. Dinner options are open so if there is somewhere closer with the exception of Boma that you think would be eaiser to access we are open to suggestions.

Thanks for your help.

I am not one to normally recommend a cab, but this is one time where it would be in your best interest.

DHS will likely have closed and transportation ended by then.

Epcot busses would still be going, but you likely could not enter International Gateway to get to the busses.

If you don't want to pay cab fare, DTD would be your only option.

Definitely take a taxi. Just exit out the main entrance of the Yacht Club (not the Boardwalk side). Normally cabs are waiting. If one is not there the CM at the podium will get one for you right away.

Yacht Club is fine for dinner. The first part of your plan is sound.
Going from the YC to Pop there are several options:
1 Taxi. That is going o be the quickest way bak to Pop.
2 Ask a bus coming in if they can drop you off. No gty.
3. If you feel like a stroll, you can always head to DTD by bus, then walk around a little bit before taking a bus back.
Unfortunately at the time of year you are there, the parks close early, so that takes a lot of transfers off the table.

I'm not sure what you mean by asking a bus if they can drop you off....a bus is either going to a place or they're not. I can't imagine a bus heading to DTD (or elsewhere) from YC is going to head to POP to drop someone off. But, I may be misinterpreting your statement. I really don't think anyone should be asking any bus drivers to make special stops for them.

I dont think he meant it that way. Not asking for special treatment. But sometimes if a bus is on its last route you can ask where they are going and tell the driver you are trying to get to a particular destination. The driver has the option to "offer" or make a suggestion for your transportation needs. It never hurts to ask.

I did have a driver make an exception for me once and I didnt even ask- he was just being nice.

I had lost my phone at Studios the day before and went from POP to Studios to check their lost and found. Here I was told that it was most likely at the lost and found at the TCC. So trying to navigate myself.... I caught a bus from Studios to MK, thinking I would get on the monorail and ride around to the TCC and look for the lost and found. When I entered the bus the driver greeted me.... we chatted and he asked me about my plans for the day.... when I told him of the above plan to get to TCC, he told me to just stay on the bus at MK and he would drive me there. A few people go on the bus, we made our way to TCC, the other passengers were confused because the bus didnt take its normal route but I told them the driver was helping me get to lost and found and they were fine with it. So we made a quick unscheduled stop at TCC and I saved alot of time navagating myself around ...(FYI... if you ever lose something - main lost and found is in the same building as the kennel)

I didnt ask for special treatment. I just made conversation with the driver and he was kind enough to help make my day a little eaiser.

BEST DISNEY MAGIC EVER****** The lost phone had been dropped in the RAIN at Studios, had been missing almost 2 days, was not only found at lost and found but STILL WORKED ;)

To the best of my knowledge, just about every bus that leaves MK goes past the TTC...it's just the way the roads works. There may be one or two buses that don't pass that way, but the vast majority do.

I don't mean to suggest that bus drivers don't sometimes hand out some nice magic...they do. But sometimes, things get suggested on these boards, and people take it to be gospel. Way too much room for major disappointment that way. It's best to just get on the bus that is going where you need to go....of course, there is nothing wrong with asking a bus driver what his/her opinion is as to how best to get to 'your destination'. Didn't mean to offend.

When a park closes, the busses for that park dont just shutdown. Some are broken up and sent to different areas, for floaters (not assigned a specific route,)for demand. Alot of times, if you see a bus that comes in that says something other than a park, say it says Special or VIP Castmember, that bus is not on a scheduled route anymore. If they are "Floating" out of say DTD, they have the "option" for lack of a better word,of dropping you off if it is along the way or not too far out of the way.Keep in mind that they dont have to, but there are some drivers out there that still create a little bit of magic that way.

Another reason is that the driver may have to kill some time on his/her route. The busses are schduled out of the hub, at specific times. If the bus infront is running late, and picking everyone up, leaving the second bus empty, the second bus may have time to make a quick drop.

A third reason may be that due to weather and the busses are fairly empty and no one is going back to the hub.

I used to do it all the time, as long as it didnt impact other guests onboard.
I used to drop guest off in the middle of the Studios car parking lots in the rain after the park had closed, and it was storming, or if the family had a small child that was alseep or a lot to carry. Made 1 stop in each lot.Did it make those guests night? Yep. Does everyone do it? No. Depends on the driver.

So when you catch the right driver, and ask "How do I get to this place?" they may just take you there. Espescailly if it is there last run of the night.or they pass where you are trying to go.
