has anyone ever used frog toggsfrog straight out of the container without washing them first. Was packing and realized it says to wash them first

Same thing happened to us. We didn't wash ours first. Noticed it said to after we were already there. They worked fine and we didn't have any issues with them.

We had the same experience as cmorris303 - no problem. However, we do wash them after every trip and repack them after they have dried for the next trip. We've used them for 6 summer trips in a row. They are amazing, especially when you travel in August::yes::

I don't think you have to wash them in a washer with soap. I just rinsed mine in water and squeezed it out a few times before using it so we did it at our resort.

How do these work? I bought one and thought I'd try it out before we go in July. Do you just wear it around your neck? It just seems to me that it would be heavy and bothersome?

they're amazing. we used ours for the first time last summer (and I was even generous to gift mine to a ghost on the HM near the end of our trip, so I'll be breaking in a new one again...). We just rinsed them before the first use, no problems. the one that made it back last summer is coming this trip too--right now it's completely dried out and I was just planning on soaking it. but maybe I'll wash both with dish soap (?)

@bostonsnana i don't completely know how they work, but you wet the cloth and as it dries it gets cooler. we didn't find them to be burdensome at all--we kept them in ziploc bags until it got too warm out and then draped them around our necks. they went back into the bags when we went inside (except for the one I "gifted")

I don't remember what the directions on the package of frogg toggs said, but we wash ours on delicate with cold water in the washing machine. After 6 trips they are still holding up as good as new:-)

So do these really work that well? I was thinking of getting them and/or a small personal fan for our 4 day trip in May for the 24 hour day as it sounds like it's pretty hot then, but a bit skeptical! Do you just need one per person? How long do they last or do you just wet them again when they dry out? And how big are they, like what shape are they - are they like a scarf that hangs around your neck to like your chest level? The ones at Amazon - it's kind if hard to tell how long or big they are and not sure which to even get! And one more thing, do they get your clothes all wet? TIA!

We bought them for our August trip a couple years ago. Took one out of the package, used it at home for a couple days and threw it away. We couldn't stand the smell and it was just something else to keep track of at the park. The other three FT are still in their original packaging, having never been opened. They were a waste of money for us.

Used mine without washing it also... no problems. It was a life saver last trip for me and worked better than I expected. Even wetting it with the warm water from the drinking fountains made it feel very cool and stayed cool for 1 to 2 hours in the really hot September weather, easily enough time until you come across another drinking fountain. Sometimes I would just drape it over my head and wear it like a hood, lol.

Wait, there was instructions that said wash them first :) :) Just kidding, we wet them and used them without washing and they worked great! We put them in ziplock bags instead of in the plastic cases they came in to make it less bulky to carry around and thanks to this thread, I have remembered I am supposed to find ours for our trip coming up in September!

I washed mine in the washing machine since that's what it said. But are they supposed to get bone dry? When they came they were pliable but after washing they get stiff. Putting it under water makes it towel-like again but I'm just curious if that normal.

And so far I'm impressed with them! I'll be using them when hiking or exercise and not the parks, but still happy i heard of them from these boards!

We did not wash ours either. But used them for the first time last August and loved them. We only bought two off of Amazon and cut them in half to have four. Worked great!

We LOVE Frogg Toggs chilly pads! DS uses them for baseball to keep cool between innings, and we all use them while fishing and at Disney World. I also love that they're super close to me, in Alabama. :)

But no, we didn't wash ours before we used them because I didn't read it, and they were fine. :thumbsup2

I bought one that is (I think) the same thing from the dollar store. I haven't used it yet but was wondering if anyone else has one they used from the dollar store.
