I have made mention in some previous posts about an Erie Community project with the frog statuettes. It's called "Leapfrog 2004".
We found out the Art Museum is raffling off a frog and the lucky winner will get to decorate / paint / theme the frog in whatever way they want. These frogs are about 7 foot tall...and are on a cement base....
So far, there have been a dozen or so frogs put out on display. The themes include:
a leprechaun, a baby frog, a money frog, a frog with texas longhorns, a matador, one by an olde mill, one like the Statue of Liberty, one like a biker, a ballerina, a parachuting frog, and a Railroad engineer frog. There are others...
Anyway, DW and I took some Grandkids out "frog-gigging" yesterday...our term for going for a ride and finding new frogs on display...
And, we bought some raffle tickets....which led to a LONG conversation about how we would theme/ decorate the frog if we won.. ..
it could happen...lol...
We ended up with 2 ideas we didn't discard...
The first..theme the frog somewhat like Brer_Frog from Splash Mountain...
Straw hat, a pipe, blue Jeans and a fishing pole....
The other idea was to theme it like Davy Crocket....and name it Davy Croak-it
...a coonskin cap, fringed buckskin jacket and boots, a kentucky long rifle...
We even came up with a song....and sang all afternoon...and mind you, we took a lot of liberties...but it goes like this:
"Born on a lilypad by Lake Erie....
Greenest swamp in the Land of the Free....
Raised in a bog so he knew every flea...
Swallowed a fly when he was only three...
~~~~~~ chorus ~~~~~~~
Davey, Davey Croak-it
King of the wild swampland!
OK! Just in case us kids win the raffle....how about sharing an idea or two you might have?
TIA!!
BTW...i will edit this in a bit...there is a website about our frogs...i have to find it....
www.leapfrogerie.com should get you there....
