Friendship Advice Needed - Planning a trip together

I know this is completely against the rules and there are a lot of perks to missed out on by doing so and in the end possibly getting caught and having to pay anyway with no perks).
FYI: that's not how it works. Lying about the number of people in the room is a violation of fire codes and it's something that Disney takes very seriously. You will not be given the option to just pay the difference. Everyone in the room will be told to pack their things and find other accommodations.

Whether or not it's unnecessary, it is th

The extra adult fee has been in existence for as long as I can remember, like 1995. I have not noticed an increase recently.

As of today the extra adult charge is value 10, moderate 15 and deluxe 25 but if you price out for 2018 it is going up to 15/25/35! So there is an increase for 2018

We just got back from POFQ and for the 3 of us it was an extra $15 per night as my dd's are both over 18.

OP after reading your update I would still not agree to sneak in the extra adult, in fact you are actually saving them $75 by bringing your under 18 sister instead of the original over 18 guest :) Also - airport transport is going to run about 60 each way plus tip, maybe a bit less if you uber/lyft but still more than $75.00.

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to approach her with some hard facts and really look at whether I was being persnickety and a goody two shoes.....

I would call it wise, not persnickety or goody two shoes. Using sugar and love is wise too :-). You will feel better about your trip knowing you aren't at risk of getting kicked out! Not to mention karma.....I wouldn't be expecting one bit of pixie dust if she pulls a stunt like that. In fact, it sounds like the makings a trip going wrong. Maybe that will help convince her.

I'd tell her how not listing all 4 people on the reservation can/will play out...
  • Disney discovers more than 2 in the room and you're all asked to leave Disney property
  • Disney assigns you to a King room, with only one bed
  • Only the two people listed will be able to use MDE
  • Only the two people listed will have FP+ access at 60 days
  • Only the two people listed will have complimentary MB
If it were me, and she was not willing to budge on this, I'd book my own room reservation. It's more money, but the peace of mind will be worth it.

King rooms at POR are a bookable category and cost more.

I had a feeling it was. And yet in some circumstances I bet people have been assigned such rooms before. We were upgraded to a royal room once and that's a bookable, more expensive, category. (Can't tell you the number of times at Disneyland we've booked a standard room ap rate and gotten moved to a suite.)

And wouldn't it be a kick if the time they are putting 4 people in a room they were assigned that king room?

She may not care about FP, but she should. That FP window is a lot more important than it used to be, and your group may miss out on some of the biggest rides because she wants to save a little money. See if that budges her.

If you can't convince her on ethical grounds, try explaining to her that Disney has a lot more leverage to enforce their rules than other hotel chains, and they use all of it. Try to get around their rules and it either diminishes your experience by limiting FP access, or costs you money and inconvenience (no DME). And if you've got a credit card on file and they figure out that she's lied about the number of guests in the room, there's not much to stop them from charging the fees anyway. Even if you haven't put a card on file, they can just send her a bill.

How would the other person even get in the room if they don't have a MB or card attached? That means you have to travel as a pack the whole time or always wait in the room
On each other to get in.

A party of two could still be upgraded to the king room.

It's possible, but not likely. There's a small number of king rooms available for booking to begin with. So the circumstances at the resort would have to be such that all other room categories are at capacity with the party of 2's booking category being oversold, and king rooms undersold, thus forcing the party of 2 out of their original category and into the king category. I would imagine that's rare.

To me, this is the most concerning statement... I cannot imagine doing WDW without FP+.

If she wants to make it an awesome birthday trip, it's crazy that she isn't wanting to maximize all the perks of being on site......I would be taking advantage of everything I could!

Disney takes a hard line on this. If you are caught, you will all be kicked out of the resort, no refund. It's ridiculous to risk for $75. On top of that, the taxi to the resort since two of you will NOT be allowed on the magical express will be $50 anyway. You will be losing out on booking FP+ at 60 days out, emh, etc..

That's $50 each way from/to the airport, so you're really paying more OOP than you are "saving". Why doesn't each adult just pay $25 and call it a day?

All this to save $75?? How is the 3rd adult getting to the resort from the airport, since they can't use ME?

OP update! We booked the room last night. With the correct amount of people! It really wasn't such a big deal as i thought. Just mentioning about the magical express was the sticking point. In addition she and her sister helped me out alot by splitting the bill 3 ways. (11 year old sister spends the night for free).

Warning: We called online to make the reservation and the CM only gave us options for the the most expensive rooms. When my friend mentioned the standard rooms for 100+ cheaper total, the CM said oh yeah, you can do that too :sad2:. She totally tried to upsale us by not telling us about the standard rooms. Luckily, my friend had looked up the price per night online. She also spelled our names wrong on the reservation after we repeated the spelling twice. If you book online, always see what price it would be if you booked online.

Excellent news, it all worked out! Good thing you all had priced it out beforehand.
