Friends seeking travel friends thread!

Oh, you're making sense. :-) Although I've been planning like a maniac, I've never coordinated with others either! 11:30 sounds good, too. Or I could meet you somewhere in the World Showcase before then.
Ok! I hope these next 6 weeks go by fast! So ready to be there. It's been a year and a half for me. Missing it like crazy.

Hi, sorry to miss you two on the morning of Monday, July 20, but I'm doing the railroad tour (which I'd signed up for on my last trip and then they cancelled it due to refurbishing), and then lunch at Kona Café, and then a rest break after getting up very early for the tour. So I'll be arriving at Epcot most likely in the late afternoon. I might make one of my fastpasses for Illuminations that night. Looking forward to meeting bamacmac for the Le Cellier dinner, and hopefully will also meet up with catmom46 at some point(s) during our trips.

It's been longer for me, almost 4 years! Although I have lots to take care of before leaving so I'm sure it'll go by fast for me.

Yes, I'm pretty sure we'll meet up at some point(s) as well! I'm definitely interested in Boathouse lunch, just not sure if that time will be too early, but I'll let you know soon. I can just taste the lobster roll now… :P

It seems so far away right now...but I know it will go quickly. Especially since I am a nanny for 4 kids and they are out of school now. Summers are usually nuts. I'm somewhat of a WDW newbie. Went twice when I was younger but then 4 times in 2013 and that is what sparked my obsession!

I have a boathouse res for that Sat night...so excited to try that place out!

Oh, and I'm a DVC member, so I have access to the Top of the World Lounge if you want to check out Wishes from there on Sat or Sun. At least I think I can get you guys in. :rolleyes1

Thanks! Can we do this on Sun., July 12? That might fit better with my plans. Or, Sat., July 18 might also work -- I have a dinner reservation at Artist Point that evening. I had booked fastpasses for Wishes and the Main Street Electrical Parade, and then planning to do extra magic hours at the Magic Kingdom. So, I'd have to change at least one of the fastpasses if we choose that night. July 19, I'm going to the campfire singalong but leaving when the movie starts, and was going to try to get back early because the next day I have to get up around 5:30AM, and I'm not a morning person... But checking out Wishes from Top of the World some evening would be fun!

July 12 would actually be excellent because I was already planning on dinner at the Contempo Café that evening, which would be in the same building, right?

OK, my turn! :flower1: I'm Cathy.

A bit about you: I'm 46 (although still feel like 26!), and in the process of getting a divorce, which has made this upcoming July trip a bit more challenging because it'll be me, my soon-to-be-ex and our 7-year-old daughter traveling together. Yikes, right??? o_O But I'm determined to make the most of this trip and keep it as stress-free as possible. Hence, we will be alternating days with our daughter, but still having dinners together because I am NOT going to rebook all those ADRs that I worked so hard to get! Oh, and I currently reside in the Los Angeles area, and while I grew up with Disneyland, I love WDW more.

What is your travel style (slow, moderate, fast paced): A mix of moderate and slow. Love doing different stuff, but also like just hanging out at the pool or water parks in the lazy river.

What are your trip finances like (budget, moderate, luxury): Mostly moderate, but since we're DVC members, we stay at the deluxe resorts.

Planned or laid back trip: Similar to travel style, a mix of both! Although for our July trip I've been feverishly hunting down ADRs and scheduling FPs like I'm studying for a big exam. :teacher:

Morning or night person: Before our daughter was born, I was totally a night person, but now that she's in school and on a regular schedule, so am I. Although I do still enjoy the occasional late nights whenever possible. :drinking:

Favorite parks: Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom (but I really want to go on Rock n Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios!)

Are you a leader or a follower (i.e. okay with someone else planning and you just tag along or vice verse): I'm usually more of a follower, but there are definitely things I want to do on this trip, so I've taken on the leader role for this occasion.

Rate these in importance (1 most important, 6 least important): 1. Rides, 2. food, 3. down time, 4. tours, 5. character experiences, 6. shopping

What time of year do you most like to travel: We used to travel whenever we wanted, avoiding summer and holidays, but again now that our daughter's in school, we kinda have to travel when she's out of school. :(

Our Disney travel dates are July 10-21, but we actually arrive in Orlando on July 6, staying at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek for 4 nights, then at Kidani Village for a week, and the final 4 nights at Bay Lake Tower. No matter what, I'm having fun on this trip!!

I can't do July 12, as we're doing the Fantasmic! dinner package that night. And the 13th we're doing the Frozen Premium package. The 14th we have an 8:15pm ADR at Kona, so maybe we could meet up that night?

Yes, I think after dinner on July 14th would work! I'm having dinner at Tusker House that evening, and could meet you afterwards.

OK, let's plan on that for now and re-confirm closer to our departure dates. I have a lot of juggling to do with my carefully crafted itinerary now, but I'm going to make it work somehow. :surfweb:

OK, sounds good! I also have a detailed schedule... I guess it goes with the territory!

I know, right? I told a couple friends we're spending 2 weeks in Orlando and they were like, "to do what??" Obviously they're not huge Disney fans. But even 2 weeks isn't enough time to do everything I want to do!

However long my trip is (and I usually go for around 10-12 days or so), I can always think of more things I'd like to do if there were more time. And that's just on-property. If off-property activities were added, there'd be even more. I guess that's why so many people keep going back, or even move there.

Oh wow that would be amazing. I may touch base with you about that closer to time if that's ok? It might work out for me to meet you over there that Sat (the 18th). But I'm also going to try to coordinate some meet ups with local friends and haven't nailed down anything with them yet. So that might end up not being an option for me, just not sure yet. But I've always thought that would be amazing to do!

Love your attitude about your upcoming trip! And I think it's awesome that you guys are embracing the trip in spite of what's going on and I know your daughter will love having time with each of you there. I'm sure it will have it's tough moments, but I'm also sure it will be an amazing trip with lots of great memories made!

Looking forward to meeting you, Cathy!

Christy, thanks so much for the encouraging words! I will need all I can get to get through this trip, I'm sure. But it will be all worth it in the end, even if there are some bumps in the road. Looking forward to meeting you and Daisy, too! :-)

I'm also looking forward to meeting both of you!

I would love to do the tea...but with checking in at 3pm, I think that would make me too rushed to try to get there in time. And I don't want anything about this trip to be rushed. That's my number one trip goal. :)

I could probably move Sunday's tea to around 4:45 PM if you'd be able to meet then. But if that's not convenient for you, no worries. Will still see you at Epcot and Le Cellier Monday, either way.
