Friends seeking travel friends thread!

Now that's being entrepreneurial! If we weren't getting a divorce we'd be taking you up on that offer. I know, bad joke, but at some point you gotta find humor in it, right?:rotfl:

Haha...yes, it always helps to try to find some humor in any situation. :)

By the way, I was able to get an 11:45am FP for Nemo on the 20th, so we can also ride that together after Spaceship Earth. I changed my breakfast plans to Grand Floridian Cafe and will probably get to Epcot around 10am, with my first FP being Test Track now. Maybe after that I can catch up with you wherever you are in the World Showcase?

Sure, sounds good!

Oh, by the way, do you think you'll be able to check out Wishes from Top of the World on the 18th or 19th? Daisy said the 14th works better for her, though.

I know I couldn't on the 19th. The 18th is a possibility, but I'm hoping to meet up with a friend sometime and she won't know her work schedule until closer to time. So just don't count on me...y'all do whatever works best for y'all!

Anyone else going mid-July? I'm getting so excited for my trip!! 34 days!!!:mickeyjum
Looking forward to meeting Daisy and catmom!

Maybe we three are the only solo visitors around that time (and I understand that catmom46 is solo only part of the time). Most solo visitors prefer to go during the school year and when the weather is milder. (I usually prefer that also.) Given that, it's great that there are even three of us and that we found each other. But who knows, maybe there are also some locals out there who may like to meet up with us?

Sure, no problem! We can exchange cell #s before we leave, so you can just text me if you're available. :thumbsup2

I think another segment of other solo visitors would be parents, so they'd be looking at that particular thread to meet up with other solo parents (although it's not as active as ours :chat:). But I have to say the DIS overall solo/adult traveler forum is more active than others I've looked at. And the 3 of us finding each other is definitely a testament to that. :disrocks:

Although it doesn't seem like many locals are interested in meeting other solo travelers - maybe because they usually visit with friends or family who are also in the area? :confused3

Yeah I think that's true. And I would guess locals don't spend as much time there in the summer. I don't think I would! In fact, I would not be going in July if it weren't the only week I have off this summer. My summer vacation time is dictated by when the family I work for goes on vacation. I'm glad the 3 of us came across each other though!

While I'm interested in the solo experience and want to see what that is really like, it will make it more fun to meet up with others a little bit too!

I am proud of this thread though....it is very active with way more replies than a lot of the others! :)

Possibly! I bet a lot of people don't want to commit to anything either. I was kind of that way at first, but then I decided it would be cool to meet up with some fellow DISers. :)

Ah, this may be true for most of them, but there could be a few exceptions. Maybe. (Or not.)

Love the idea! I have been divorced now a little over a year and was in a committed relationship that started while I was separated - huge mistake. So here I am now actually wanting to heal and learn to be alone for the first time ever in my life at age 42.
I was with my ex for 23 years. No kids. I was an insurance broker for years and now am considering options.

I love Disney and have been going to Orlando annually my entire life. I think this might the first place I go to alone to get used to Traveling and doing things solo. I prefer to meet other gf's also and not have those dating pressures right now. Seems like I can't be just friends with men.. They all want to date and get married ASAP. I need some space to heal. I like all the rides and true rollercoasters scare me, so a few I don't ride. But I like to just go do anything and like the sit down restaurants too. I don't value down time there too much and not shopping either. I want to ride and see the shows etc. I will go from morning to extra magic hours to midnight or 1 am if they are open then. I tend to lead because I know the ins and outs, but as long as I get to ride everything I am good lol.

I live in Atlanta and can get there easily. Planning to go soon ..

Bamacmac.. I grew up in Birmingham and my parents still live there

Oh cool! And welcome to the thread. Funny, I grew up in Rome, GA and my parents still live there. :) I'm also somewhat newly single and taking my first solo trip to WDW in a few weeks. I am likely moving to Orlando next year as well! Time for a big change!
