My friend has an AP rate at the YC starting this Wed. She was making some ADRs last week and the CM suggested she look into the DDP. She is a newbie to WDW so thought "why not?" She called Reservations and asked about adding DDP. They cancelled her first ressie; and made a new one telling her she has the same AP rate but now with DDP. The catch? She was planning to buy 4-day hoppers for her 2 boys at the AAA office tomorrow. Don't they need to have tickets as part of their room/DDP ressie?

I don't think she will need park tickets because they at an AP rate, so disney thinks they have Annual Passes therefore they wouldn't need park tickets. I know you can get the DDP with an annual pass now and not have to buy any tickets. This is just a guess though.

Your friend may want to looking into the Dining Experience card. Based on how much her family eats that might be cheaper then the DDP. I have never done the math so I don't know for sure. It was just a thought.

Hope your friend has a great time. I am excited for them.

Sounds like what your friend booked was one of the fairly new WDTC AP ticketless packages.
She can buy whatever tickets she needs the usual way -- either calling and doing a will call, or just buy them at a park/guest services.
oops -- reread. She can just buy her tickets as she was planning at her AAA office.
