Friends and Family Discount for Tickets

My Daughter did the college internship at Disney last Fall and loved it. She made alot of friends and alot of them are still there and work there full time.
We planned a trip for August and one of her friends booked the room for us with the Friends and family discount which was quite substantial. 40% I think.
My question is can they buy tickets for us with the friends and family as well?

What I have heard was they can, but they have to be with you in person and purchase the tickets and put them in your name. So would it work if this friend of my daughter met us on the day we checked in, and after we checked into the room she could go over to the concierge and purchase the tickets for us and get them added to our KTTW cards upon check in?

Has anybody had experience with this?
How can it be done?
Can she buy them prior to our visit, or do we have to be with her as I heard?

Please help!!!

Yes I read that thread and it does not answer all of my questions, in fact that thread is only a couple posts as well. Maybe there is not alot of info on this out there. My Main question is, can a cast member but tickets for myself, wife and 2 kids, over the phone. Or does this need to happen in person at a location in the resort or park? I was under the impression that a cast member could not call or go online and purchase tickets for us and have them in our name.
 
Cast Members can purchase discounted tickets at 10% off. They can only do it in person at Company D locations, not through resorts/parks, or they can do it on the phone. I will say, it's a pain in the butt. I refuse to buy tickets for my friends/family because I don't like to take a 2000 hit to my credit card while I wait for them to pay me back.

To be honest, ticket deals through AAA, Undercover Tourist, and your local Costco are often better than what a CM has access to.

Also - I don't believe CM tickets have names on them, only Annual Passes or resort keys get the names. I've only purchased party tickets, but they've always been blank paper tickets.

My daughter would agree its a hassle but will do it for her cousins. She has also gotten my fl annual pass as a cm. Neither type of ticket has names on it and the ap is in voucher form and I show my fl ID info when I turn it in. It used to then have a name on it but this new RFID one I just got does not have a name on it.

I have actually found out alot more info since I first started this thread and thought I would post it for anybody who is interested.

So we are gonna hook up with my daughters friend on the day we arrive and she will take us to a Company D location or maybe the concierge at our hotel (will find that out if it is possible in the near future). Then we will give her the cash that is necessary and she will either pay with the cash or if the concierge or whatever does not accept that amount of cash, she will use her credit card and use the cash to make a quick payment on her card.

That is it basically. She cannot do this over the phone or internet. We have to be with her at time of purchase and all money exchange must be made by her. And she will not have to be with us to get into parks. Once we have the tickets, they are normal tickets with all of the access and benefits that you pay for upon purchase.

My Daughter was a cast member up until this January, Would she be able to get into a CompanyD store. She still has her ID and stuff. I dont understand I was told that we had to be present with the Cast Member when the tickets were purchased. Huh Please anybody chime in here! I am learning alot.

That store is Cast Connection, and yes you can visit there. Company D is something different. What type of tickets are you looking to buy? If you want to purchase FL resident tickets or annual passes I would assume she would be purchasing a voucher that you would then take to a Will call window and present your FL ID to redeem. Regular paper tickets don't usually have names on them.

This is all totally correct. She has to buy the tickets at a Company D location and there is no need for you to be present. My daughter does this for my husband and I (APs) and they are voucher form that we then turn in and our info is attached to them. She has bought single day/multiple tickets for her brother and cousins. She does have to make the payment for the tickets with her preferred payment (cash, credit card).

You (not quoted poster but OP) are making this harder than it is. Take the word of long time CMs here and not random blogs. You can send her money in advance, pay her after, or it can be her treat but she needs to do it. Also be aware the CompanyD hours are limited...so it's not good to leave this until the last minute.

This is what I would do - send the money and have her get them at her convenience. It's sometimes hard for the CMs to work in the time to get to CompanyD.

With all of this, the one one key thing to remember is a lot of Cast Member discounts are intended only for the Cast Member and not for resale. If caught exchanging money for discounted goods or services, you can be terminated on the spot. If you choose to do so, please use discretion. Preachy I know, but I've had a lot of good friends fired over this.

Thank You Travel AND Wishes Count. I will take your word for it and completely respect you both and love your Disney Commitment.

I did a little more research after the first post from Wishes Count. I tracked down the address and phone number to the location that is located behind Space Mountain. After a few inquiries I got the number to the Company D (which was a little hard to find) One of the choices on the automated recording phone call from the Company D store was for Discounted Tickets. That choice connected me right away to a Cast Member after listening to an informational recording about the tickets. I started asking questions and did get confirmation that the Cast Member can buy the tickets right over the phone and YES definitely has to pay for the tickets.

Also as you guys already had known(but I was unsure of) I do not need to be with the cast member and you do not have to attach a name to the tickets at the time of purchase. The first time the tickets are used it will track you via the finger print.

BTW I want (4) 7 day tickets with Park Hopper and the Waterparks and More option. Basically tickets to the World for our 9 day vacation.(only need 7 days).

The last thing I wanted to find out but was unable to (at this point they asked me for my CM id# and I had to end the conversation) WAS
can I buy a 7 day park hopper with waterparks and more from the company D location at a discount price.

The reason I am unclear about this is when the first phone call to the company D location and I was listening to the recording that had info about the Discount tickets you CAN buy, it said that you can buy up to a 5 day ticket and I need 7. Then it also said that you couldn't buy waterpark tickets there. But it did give the option to buya base ticket then you can add park hopper if you like, then it said upgrade even more and get the waterparks and more WITH the park hopper option.

So does this mean you CANNOT buy individual waterpark tickets, but you can buy a base ticket and upgrade to the hopper and waterparks and more. So if you buy the discount tickets you CAN buy waterpark tickets only if you attach it to a base ticket.

DOes this sound accurate and when I told the CM that I wanted 7 day tickets, they didnt shoot me down right away infact she was gonna look up pricing but had to stop because I needed to give her my CM id#.

1 thing, I want to apologize for this long post.
#2 I had no intention on trying to pull a fast one. You all know that I am NOT a CM but I only wanted information. So I apologize for seemingly impersonating as a CM while I was inquiring. I am a 100% honest person and have no intentions of trying to decieve anybody. But I know as other posters have stated, that it is kind of a pain for a CM to do this for you especially the Big Dollar money exchange, so I want to have accurate information and pricing before we bother this CM and ask her to help us out. She has already stated several times that she is more than happy to help us out. Infact she was gonna take a vacation day on the day we were to check in and she is really looking forward to our visit as much as we are. Her and my daughter were Very Very Good friends and have made a lifelong bond.

So again thanks to ALL especially Travel and Wishes and any other help you can give is and always will be greatly appreciated. Cant wait to get there. I am a little obsessed Disney Freak and all!! I am sure I am making this much harder than you all said. I just need that last question answered. Can you buy 7 day passes or do you have to buy a 5 day and a 2 day. AND can you definetly get the waterpark and more option on the discounted tickets?

The number is listed on the Hub for your daughter's friend to call, I don't want to publish it on a public forum. There are 5 Company Ds on WDW property, 3 can be accessed by friends/family w/the CM; the other 2 are only accessible by the CM.

The only tickets listed on the Hub go up to 5 day, no 7 day. I have no experience with that, so maybe you can do 7 and they just don't list it? You can make the 5 day a WPF&M ticket.

There is currently no discount on just a one day WP ticket for CMs. During the slow season (Aug-June, which is a long time), CMs do get 50% off. Those tickets must be purchased directly from the the water park day of usage; and the CM also has to enter the water park with their Guests (IDs are checked again at the turnstile).

I am starting to figure these things out. My Daughter was a cast member for 6 months and unfortunately at the time she was we didnt have any money to buy tickets and or even visit her while she was there. I do love Disney so much and was highly disappointed that we couldnt visit her. At the time I was out of work and we barely scraped by on our mortgage for a few months there. So I often think that I am an expert when it comes to some of this stuff and the truth is I dont know much, but I can admit when I am wrong and I am always open to other peoples advice and knowledge. In hindsight and if we would have had the cash we would have just had my daughter buy us 1 ticket a month or something. Oh well.

But fortunately I am back to work and first things first we need to GO GO GO!! But things are tight still which is why we used friends and family for the room, and we are working on these discounted tickets. Normally we get a package WITH the DDP yes a few times we got the fre DDP and in 2011 we even paid for it since the promotion didnt coincide with our dates. But this year we need discounts and will be living on cereal in the mornings and quick service with maybe a couple of sit downs. HEY none of that matters as you all know, the only thing that matters is we will be there!!!

Cant wait and counting down Daily. Today is Monday and I will get the rest of the info I need today. I do have the phone number you mentioned, and I totally agree that we should not post it (which is why I didnt) so thanks and If anybody else finds out any info please post and keep this thread going!!! With this economy there is probably alot of people like me that need a little help with discounts and just may know a cast member themselves. Thank God my daughter made all of the wonderful friends that she did when she was there. We even had one of them visit our house way out here in Illinois. Once my daughter finishes her Nursing program she is determined to move to the Orlando area so she can get employment with Disney.

So I assume if 5 days is the most that you can buy, we could just buy (4) 5day tickets, then (4) 2 day tickets. May not be as much savings as I anticipated.

I also priced tickets through Undercover Tourist and the price for (4) 7 day with park hopper and waterparks and more comes out to $1511.80.

Disney's Price online with tax is $1674.20 so that is $162.40 savings. That is not bad if you ask me. Its hard to get discounts on tickets.

That is almost 10% discount. with tax and all. 10% would be $167.42 and I am getting $162.40 So I am curious as to exactly what the tickets would cost a CM for
