Friend "claiming" their MDE account?

I have been planning a friend's trip with us. Right now their package is on my MDE account. I paid the deposit and reserved dining and FP+ for them.

They got an email asking them to make a MDE account, so they did (thanks Disney). They haven't linked their package to the account yet. I told them not to right now, as I'm scared to death of losing stuff. What happens if they do link their resort id on their MDE account? Does it disappear from my account? Does anyone have experience with this? Is it easy and seamless, or a nightmare?

Once I've gotten our plans finalized, it would be good for them to be able to manage their own fastpasses. I assume in the parks they will split from our family a bit, and I want them to have freedom to make changes for themselves.

...but, I'm scared of MDE glitches...

Can you give a bit more info:
1) How many reservations do you / they have?
2) Have you already made ADRs?
3) Do you or they have any children under 13?
4) Have you made "guest accounts" for them under yours? (when you go to your family & friend list it would say "You manage this account")

Most likely you will end up having to call IT. A friend stayed with me in May and she had 2 accounts. The account that linked to mine with our room reservation did not have the avatar she was using and her name was all small letters. She had to call IT to get the one she had with the avatar and her name setup correctly linked to our reservation.

Could have issues if you/them have created 2 of them in the Disney system. I would contact IT to make sure that the 2 can be joined without losing anything...I had to do this, but I did it BEFORE I made any FP ressies. With the FP, I would be hesitant to link the ressie to their account and just sort out the 2 copies of the same person after the trip so there is no chance that the FP ressies will be lost.

1) A bunch. 7-11 days of FP+ and ADRs, depending on the person.
2) Yes, many of them.
3) We do, they do not. They are 2 adults.
4) I'm not sure, their names were added when I linked their resort ID. All the people on the three resort IDs (2 my family, 1 theirs) say managed by you, but there is a button to invite them.

You should be able to link their new account to their name in your account. Go to their name in "My Family and Friends" in your account. Click on "Invite to Plan and Share" and send an invitation to their e-mail to accept. They should log on to their account and accept the invitation. Hopefully everything will link up and they will be able to see everything and make changes if they want.

Make sure you send the invitation e-mail to their address they used to create their MDE account.

So, I tested it out by making a new email/new disney account for my MIL. She is on a separate resort reservation with my mother, so similar to our friends.

IT ACTUALLY WORKED.

Everything is still visible on my account. All my FP are still there. From her account, I can see her resort reservation as well as mine, BUT I can change FP for all including the friends even though their resort reservation is not listed. On my account I can see, mine, hers, and the friends' resort reservation and change FP for everyone.

No way am I actually giving my MIL access to these powers, but I might for our tech savvy, less likely to screw something up friends.

Glad it worked out! I agree re: only giving access to those who are tech savvy enough. Only obnoxious thing is that you'll have to go around and use your MB for 4th or more FP+'s. Though you'd have to do that anyway with kids under 13.

Most days we don't plan on even trying for a 4th, so that's not a huge concern. We have a lot of later in the day FP+.
