Can anyone give me some details about the fried chicken at 50's Prime Time Cafe? How many pieces do you receive? Is it white or dark meat or can you choose which you prefer? I have eaten here many times but for some reason never got the fried chicken. It probably has something to do with the fact that I worked in a chicken restaurant for 7 years. The chicken here gets such rave reviews, I really want to try it next week.

The fried chicken is deserving of the hype, in my opinion. From what I recall, there were three pieces, one white and two dark, although I am certain that they would accomodate requests for all white or all dark meat (provided you promise to eat your veggies, of course!). Enjoy!

I think the fried chicken is very yummy there. I also remember getting white and dark meat. I think I also exchanged the mustard greens for green beans so that I wouldn't get in trouble for not cleaning my plate. Didn't want to miss out on the smores.

I honestly didnt care for the chicken too much. I found it incredibly salty! the table next to us said the same thing, so maybe it was an off day? but i do remember getting 4 HUGE pieces of chicken. I only ate 2 thou. Way too much food.

I actually like it, but I agree it's too much. If you ask, they will bring you two huge chicken breasts. Still too much.

I really liked the fried chicken and I would go back, just for that
We received 4 pieces, a breast, a leg, a thigh and a wing. If you ask for all white meat you will receive 2 breat pieces.
Enjoy

NOTE: The atmosphere is the main reason to patronize this
eatery. And, just like eating at Grandma's, the table service can
be spotty, based upon the waiter's attitude. As for food, the pork
should have stayed on the farm wallowing in the mud, and the
fish left at the bottom of the sea. The mashed potatoes were
average, but the onion rings were fabulous. The 3-piece fried chicken
was surprisingly good and could easily demand a return visit. Prior
to the meal, the Tune-In Lounge bar is like walking into a 50's hotel
bar - poor wine list but great mixed drinks. Well worth a cocktail.

My son and I both really love it, he gets it every time. I always intend to get the chicken, however I end up with the pot roast, go figure!

I believe the chicken is brined, which is what gives it its moist salty flavor!

It sounds like my DH & I could order one of those & have more than enough food. Do they give you a hard time about sharing? We have always avoided 50's, because of the antics. If we shared, I could make my DH eat what I didn't want. I definitely don't want to jeopardize my ability to order dessert.

I love the fried chicken at 50's PT. I got four pieces of chicken, basically half a chicken fried. I got a wing, breast, leg, and thigh. I don't know if you can request just white meat or not. I like both so I enjoyed getting both.

It really is some of the best fried chicken I've ever ate, and that's saying a lot for a southern gal. It's has a nicy crispy crust, but not too crunchy, and very flavorful. I wish I could cook fried chicken like that. Mine is always soggy and doesn't have enough batter.

Here is the fried chicken from 50's PTC. I had 3 large pieces but there wasn't very much meat on any of them. I wasn't crazy about it & wouldn't order it again, and I'm a huge meat-on-the-bone eater.

If you don't want any antics, sit at the bar in the Tune In Lounge. Full menu is available there.

I love the chicken! Sharing is fine or go at lunch and the servings (and price) are smaller. You can also request onion strings instead of the green veggies. They are AMAZING. Bet you could get fries as well. The antics for us were just fun. Not over the top my any means.

Thanks for the tip.

I just wouldn't like them making a big deal about me not cleaning my plate. I never eat everything & I really wouldn't want to be force fed anything I didn't want to eat.

We ate here 2 nights ago. We're a couple of middle aged adults, and our waitress didn't kid around with us alot, although she did quite a bit with her tables that had kids.
I had the sampler platter, which had a piece of meatloaf, some pot roast, and a huge chicken breast. It was all very good.
The table next to us asked the waitress whether the chicken was white or dark or mixed. The waitress told him that "its whatever Mother throws on the plate, but if you keep your elbows off of the table and mind your manners, she probably will give you whichever you want." Looked like he received 2 breast pieces.

Ate at 50's a little over a week ago. We sat at the bar and the bartender asked me which pieces I would like. This was the first time I was given a choice. Usually I just take what they give me knowing I can't eat it all anyway but I got 2 huge chicken breasts knowing DS would enjoy 'helping' me finish it! The potatoes are garlic mashed if that makes any differance to you. ENJOY!

Thanks for the tip.

Umm, what do you think happens here? Are you somehow under the impression that some old lady dressed up like grandma hog ties you to the chair and prys your mouth open with a spoon and forces a food down your throat then water boards you with a glass of sweet tea?:confused3

This is Disney. It is lighthearted and fun, not a punishment.

No, I wasn't thinking it would be anything that extreme. I have seen many reviews where the server used the airplane, feeding method to make you eat just another bite or something similar. Or they harped on the fact that the patron hadn't eaten enough for dessert. When I dine anywhere, I want to eat what I want. I want good service that brings what I order, & leaves what I eat up to me. Being fed "just another bite" wouldn't amuse me. I'm all for having fun, & don't mind it being at my expense at all. I just don't find the precious few meals we get as a family to relax & catch up as the time to deal with harassment (even though it is in fun). I'd love to see the decor, & would like to try the food. Having to deal with the antics just isn't my idea of a good time. I understand some people love it, & that's great. It's just not for me.
