we're staying at AKV jambo before our cruise. do the fridges have small freezer compartments in them? we'd be looking at freezing a couple of those cool packs that you put in cool bags.

Most likely they'll never freeze. The freezer sections are basically useless - you'll be lucky to get a mini ice cube to freeze.

Not true....

During our stay at SSR in April, we placed our items in the fridge and did not think about checking the temp setting. Apparently, it was turned to blasting cold, because all of our food that was in the fridge turned frozen solid. We had gone to Publix on our arrival and bought milk, mixed fresh fruit, cheese cubes, and lunchables and everythign was frozen....well except for the milk, we had taken out the bootom shelf and sat the jug on the floor of the fridge, so since it was at the bottom it didn't freeze. We didn't discover this until our third day when I went to have some fruit with my cereal.

We stayed in a studio in AKV last fall and the freezer worked fine. We were able to freeze gel packs without any problem.

OKW Studio fridge froze a coke can in about 4 hours yesterday.

What size are they?

They're not the square ones, are they? It's been a while since we've stayed in a studio, but I thought I remembered that they were the small (but rectangle) sized ones...

I've had plenty of success freezing the blue cool ice things in studio freezers. Be sure to check the temps that the unit is set on.

Yes, the studio fridges are rectangular and not the small square cubes.

If this helps anyone here's a picture of a Jambo house studio refrigerator-

LOL-or were you trying to freeze it. Sometimes those darn fridges are turned so cold, I've had refrigerator stuff freeze, and I've not had problems with ice cubes.

Also, don't overload with warm items the first day. We did this once. On the second day everything seemed warm to we turned the temp way down. On day four - everything was frozen.

Now, we put away all the refrigerated and frozen stuff and maybe add a few bottles of warm drinks. We GRADUALLY add the rest of our drinks over the next few days. That seems to keep the temps even and the frozen stuff only in the freezer where it belongs. Although we found out frozen green grapes are great for snacking!:thumbsup2
