Fridge Swap?

I've seen a few threads regarding fridge swaps? Exactly what is this?

We went last year and stayed at AK, we had a fridge in the room. We have a grand gathering planned for Feb 2008. MIL wants us all to stay at the same hotel and BIL & SIL can only afford a value, so we are 'compromising' for the sake of family harmony. (DH would rather do a moderate, since this is only our second vacation like this in the 12 years we've been married-usually a smaller, less expensive close to home. DH thinks that if we are paying all this money anyway, we should go for the gusto! )

Anyway, I've been reading up on the DIS fo rthis trip and "fridge Swap" keeps coming up, but I haven't found an explaination of this yet. Any help would be great!

I participated in one last Jan at Pop. It worked out great. A few Dis'ers pitch in some money (usually less than the cost of a one day rental) to buy a small fridge. The fridge just gets passed along to the next family or left at the desk for them. You just clean the fridge and defrost it when you pack it back up. It is great.
