Will be at RPR for the first time in less than two weeks. Wondering if I should request a fridge or buy a cooler from Walmart once I get there. I remember reading somewhere on these boards that the fridge didn't get very cold. What do you guys do? Also, do you request microwaves too? I know that both are $15 per night. It would be nice to reheat any leftovers. TIA

The refrigerators that you pay for are actual fridges and do get cold.

The things that do not get very cold are the minibar coolers that are already in the rooms. You get a key to it if you want it at check-in and it is stocked with sodas, juice, water, beer, wine and other alcohol. The drawer above it has snacks. It is all very, very overpriced.

I think it would be your preference for the fridge vs. the cooler. The fridge costs money and the cooler you have to refill with ice.

many use both.

keep the cooler in the bath tub during the day time and re-ice up in the evening when you return from the parks.

if you rent the fridge, you don't have to deal with the mess or having to go to a different floor than where your room is if the ice maker is out of ice when you need it.

about the micro.........i wouldn't want to deal with that but that is just me.
too much like fixing meals while i am on vacation.......

if i'm hungry and it is midnight, i have snacks with me.
if i can't finish a meal somewhere, i leave it.

i budget for the food i need for the vacay time.
i'm more into the parks then to deal with carrying around food containers with me at the parks or take it back to the room.
cuts into my ride time. :hippie:

We use a fold down insulated cooler from home. I pack zip locks for the ice
and refill when needed. We only use it for water , soda, and milk. I have to have coffee as soon as I'm up. As for food, we're on vacation.

We used the $4 Publix cooler at the HRH last month, worked out great. The ice machine was maybe 2 rooms away, so that was convenient! We were only there 3 days, and just needed to keep some drinks cold, so going the styrofoam cooler route worked out for us. Then we used it as an extra trash can when cleaning up before checking out. When we are at the RPR for a full week in October we'll probably do the same thing, as almost all of our real meals are at the parks or City Walk, or we'll go to Ponderosa or one of those kind of places. We just kind of take it day to day.

Thanks everyone. We'll probably just use a cooler and forget about the microwave.

:thumbsup2 Thats what we use,but ours have wheels and a handle. That way we can dump out the water and wheel it to the ice machine to refill it:thumbsup2

The hotel doesn't mind you doing this? If not, Cool!

Nobody ever said anything to us.Heck when we checked-in on our last trip,we seen someone walk through the lobby with a 12pack of beer. They are real laid back:thumbsup2
