Fridge and medication

I know that if you have medication that has to be refrigerated that you can have a fridge in your room for free. While my medication itself does not have to be refrigerated, I have to take it with milk. Granted, I could walk down to the food court every morning and night to get a carton of milk, but that's not exactly convenient. I'm going to get one regardless of if I have to pay or not, but I'm wondering if this constitutes getting a free refrigerator for medication or not? Thanks!

The fridge thing is one reason why we usually stay at a mod instead of a value. I have medication which must be refrigerated, as do various of my usual travelling companions. I have stayed at the value resorts several times, and only got a free fridge for the meds once. Once. Had to pay every other time. Many of the resort staff are quite stringent with this unofficial policy - and rightly so, I will say, because how many unscrupulous mothers would claim a free fridge for milk/juice/anything with fictitious medication stories if they knew all they had to do was tell them 'it's for medication'?

It is kind of unfortunate for those of us with legitimate needs, but oh well.

It's not enough to ruin our family's vacations or overall opinions of the value resorts. We tend to avoid them in general, but not just because of this issue.

My advice would be to communicate directly with the resort itself, not the CMs at reservations. That way you can know where you stand and have names/contact information before you arrive.

Call WDTC (or your TA if you booked with one) now and have it noted on your reservation that you need a fridge for medication. It should be documented now that the fridge is for medical purposes, and you (shouldn't) have any problems at check-in.

Moderate and Deluxe resorts have refrigerators, so you will only need to request one if you are staying at a Budget resort, as was already mentioned.

There are 2 styles of refrigerator. One is a dorm size and will have no problem storing milk. The other size is about the size of a large shoe box. You should be able to fit the medication bottle and at least one small milk carton inside (like a pint size one).

We have always received a free fridge at the Values due to my mom's insulin with no problems. One time it was on the list of charges when we checked out, but we simply went downstairs to talk to them and the charges were immediately removed. I had her insulin with me, but they didn't even ask to see it.

Well you are luckier than I am with CMs i guess....lol :thumbsup2

I am the insulin-dependent diabetic in the family and have had discussions about this with no luck time and again. Oh well, we've not booked a value in the last several trips and don't plan to do so again so it matters not to me personally... :confused3 But i stand by my earlier advice to get names of who you talk to, and deal with the hotel directly, to have a documentation. That's all. :)

This is how it was explained to me~ (we are getting free Med fridge at All*Movies) the free med fridge is smaller and NO food is allowed in it. What about a fridge swap?? Lots of them around :confused3
