Just back from a great week at BCV - had a 2BR and one studio, used points from Sun. through Thursday and cash for Friday night. Had the member discount on the 2BR, rack rate on the studio, checked several times that the reservations were linked (including on check-in) but still it didn't go smoothly. Housekeeping showed up on Friday morning to see when we'd be leaving for check-out, which prompted my visit to the Front Desk. They kindly told me that the studio could stay in the their room but the 2BR was scheduled to change rooms for the one night. Long story short, it was all OK and nobody had to move, but I plan on paying cash for weekends again in the future and is there something I'm not doing correctly? I specifically avoided looking into AP discounts and stuck with Member rates just to avoid any risk of changing rooms, and it seems we had a close call. Any advice?

BTW, the stay was fab. No other complaints whatsoever, and I even hesitate to call this a complaint. Front desk CM's were very kind and very accomodating. Resort was awesome, Disney is awesome and I'm absolutely as exhausted as ever. All the hallmarks of a great vacation.

Nope- you did everything right ... especially going down to the desk to give them the opportunity to get it right for you!

The "member cash" night should have been linked- without problem- to the point reservation. Glad it worked out for and the stay was a good one!

Thanks for the report!!

Was it the 2 bedroom with 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom? Someone else had posted they had a problem with that and was told the 2 bedroom w/2 queens was points only. Also heard the same with BWV and boardwalk view.

No - the second bedroom had the sofabed but it was a dedicated 2BR. I guess somehow the reservations came un-linked... when I did go to the Front Desk to correct everything I had to check everyone out and check in both rooms in again - all new keys for the 8 of us split between the 2BR and the one studio... then I requested express check-out and no statement was sent to the room on Saturday, our true check-out day. When I called about the statement I was told there were no additional room charges - but what about basic room and tax??? I'm home now and it seems to have been charged correctly on my CC but I would have liked to see a statement. Peeked at the Front Desk line as we were leaving and couldn't deal...

I shouldn't miss the opportunity, though, to repeat how great everything else was. Bus service was very quick - our family and guests were amazed at how much ground we covered with daily trips to a park, tons of rides with the help of FP, back to the hotel for cool-down at SAB (awesome) then dinner back at a park or other resort (O'hana is one of our faves). Room was in fantastic shape, admit I didn't go looking for minor stuff but was perfectly content. Location was fine although we don't request much (non-smoking and high floor is all we ask); we had a view of the quiet pool and a huge balcony that ran the full length of the 2BR with an expanded round end at the second bedroom...

Went to the member update at SSR on Wed. and didn't learn much that I didn't already know from these boards - heard about the AP pass for 130 pt add-on and realized that was probably what Disney's research was about... won't do another update though since it's lots of sales pitching - speakers from the spa, sales, etc. and frankly I wish they'd give out a little something to everyone and not just four door-prize winners. It's alot to get over to SSR then a 45-minute presentation.... SSR is very pretty, though, and I'm glad I got to see it. Needs better signage - I got very lost walking around and in 95+ degrees every minute counts!

Sounds like a slip-up somewhere. When I used the member discount last year at OKW, I got keys for the entire stay, both the member cash nights & the points nights. In my case, the cash nights were first, Friday and Saturday, followed by points nights Sunday to Thursday. They even came for trash & towel on Monday, which was day 4 of the linked reservation. Everything was seemless, just like I had used points for all 7 nights. I did have a problem with the express checkout too, I had to go to the front desk and get it. Glad it all worked out in the end and you had a great trip!

Just curious, I'm looking to do this next summer, was your studio connecting to your 2BR, or right next door (or close??). I was hoping for a 2BR with a connecting studio, but now I understand they don't exist. Is that right?

Studios don't really connect to 2BR's, as I understand it... but the studio was only a few rooms away from our 2BR on the same floor - so for us it seemed just fine.

There are a few terrific threads on this board with room layout descriptions for each floor at every resort, I believe. However, if you request that your 2BR and studio rooms are near each other I'm sure the CM's will do their best to make it happen.

Sorry for the hassle, but so glad it worked out OK. That would have been a bummer to move everyone in a 2 BR!

We did a cash night right in the middle of our OKW stay in April and had no difficulties. We actually started with a 2 BR and when our friends left, we kept the 1 BR (that DID require a check out/check in and new room keys, but it was easy). After 1 night in the 1 BR we had 1 night cash and then 3 more nights in the 1 BR on points.

The only additional thing I did (which you might have done and just didn't mention) was verify everything at check in. It truly was seamless. For future trips, you can also check at the desk the day before the cash ressie, just to be sure. It might sound like overkill, but I'd probably need some assurance that everything was OK. That said, I can't remember reading about anyone else having problems with this when booking through MS. In fact, most people who book through CRO seem to be able to stay in their same room.
