So I've read a few threads, and now I am trying to decide...

June 5-6 (Tues-Wed), with SoCal AP blockout for the 6th, but not the 5th,

or

June 7-8 (Thurs-Fri) with both days SoCal AP blockout? The 7th is also a Grad night.

June 6-7 would be best, I know, but it messes up the rest of my trip itinerary :sad2:

Any advice?

I would just do June 6-7. There is no way you can know at this point what that means. If Cars Land and Buena Vista Street were to open by then (which seems unlikely) then it might be an issue. Even then you can work with it with some effort.

I don't know the ages of your party and how long you'll be staying, but did you have any goals for nighttime shows? I'm not sure if Fantasmic! (or even fireworks) will be running June 5-6, but Fantasmic! will probably run June 8 and fireworks will, barring inclement weather.

WoC does currently run every day, but I'm also not sure if WoC will run on Grad Nite at all. So with your options, you may only have one day to see shows--two options for World of Color (June 5 and 6)--fireworks MAY run too; Fantasmic! almost certainly will not--or 1 option for all 3 (June 8, but maybe no shows at all on June 7). Some people HAVE done WoC, fireworks, and Fantasmic! all in one night, but I don't think it's at all easy. Fireworks and Fantasmic! isn't too hard.

The whole Grad Nite procedure is going to be new in 2012--if I understand correctly, graduates will be receiving park hoppers for the whole day before the party starts, too. Given that we don't know how that is going to go, if it were possible, I'd personally do June 6 and 8. That will give you that blockout day and also one late night. It would also presumably allow you to see World of Color (6/6) and also Fantasmic! if the latter is running that Friday.

If that's not possible, then if you're not interested in Fantasmic!/fireworks/staying late at the parks, I'd definitely choose June 5-6. Blockouts do make a difference, but your last day will be a blockout day and should be fine, so a nice way to end a trip.

If you are interested in the night shows/late nights at the parks but can't do June 6 and then June 8, then I would go with June 7-8. I'm not SURE but I'm getting the feeling that Friday may be better than Thursday due to that Grad Nite stuff.

I personally would not pick the 6th and 7th even if you could, because some of the Grad Nite kids just might not be fun to be around, and I wouldn't want you leaving the park with that as your last experience. Again, the Grad Nite thing may not be a problem at all, but just out of an abundance of caution, I would personally try to avoid their day, just in case.

I agree. If you take the what if new stuff opens out of the equation. It would be better to earlier and miss the grad night and wave of families who kids are getting out of school at the end of the week.

Depending on the rest of your trip, if you can hold off on settin anything in stone, maybe you can switch days late when the Carsland situation is known.

I dont know how i missed it, but it looks like the 8th is also a grad night! I am a little worried about Carsland opening early, if it does, i think the ap-ers will be out in full force. I guess i need to look at the 6-7 again.

 Since the 7th and 8th are both Grad Nites, I'd just go the 5th and 6th, honestly. Am I missing the appeal of the 7th? I know APs are blocked, but is there anything else nice about it? Or am I misunderstanding the disadvantages of the 5th and 6th (all I know is that one day isn't blocked to AP holders)?

Actually...the Disney site seems to indicate the 6th offers events too??? So if that's the case, I guess the 5th and 6th isn't great either.

In 2012...Seniors will have the opportunity to enter Disneyland® or Disney California Adventure® Park at any time during their Grad Nite visit. Seniors will receive a Park Hopper® Ticket allowing them a full day to experience both Disney Parks! In addition, 2012 Grads will now receive a special FASTPASS option to use during their visit and a private showing of Fantasmic! to kick-off the exclusive private party that begins when Disneyland® Park closes.

With SO many Grad Nites, I'm wondering if the parks won't close earlier (or much earlier) than usual, since they're allowing grads in the day of their grad nite. And it's not clear if the parks will be full of grads during normal operating hours, but I'd sooner face AP-holders than grads. We went in June 2009 and the blockout periods WERE less busy than the non-blockout periods, but still, throngs of seniors....

I know during Grad Nites (after the parks close to the public) the parks are so crowded that lines are an hour or more long, and I think so crowded that mobility is hindered. If even half those students come in to the parks during the day, I think you'll be looking at pretty darned high crowds, blockouts or not.

I guess I was hoping they'd still be in school and would only come out at night. Well, the fear with the AP holders is that Carsland might open that week, and then the parks will be full of the AP holders except on the blackout dates. If Carsland isn't open though, the 5th and 6th would probably be better. I can't exactly wait until June to find out, though, with all of the accommodations I have to book for the rest of my weeklong trip. Decisions, decisions!!! :confused3
