if you are a frequent virgin they say in some of the hotels that you get a better room within the room category that you are staying.

so do virgin tell the hotel this or do you have to show them your frequent virgin card at check-in and ask? (i will be so embarrassed if you have to do this)

thanks,

xjx

To be perfectly honest we have frequent virgin cards but to my knowledge we have never been upgraded to a better room whilst staying in a hotel.

We have asked , but usually told that they were not available.

Always stay in a villa now so it is a few years since we could possibly have had chance of an upgrade.
It could well be just something you have slim to remote chance of getting.

I don't know, call me cynical, but I just presume the hotel know how many people are coming that day and prepare the rooms. Should you flash you Frequent Flyer card, I dobut they will make a fuss trying to prepare a better room for you. Happy to be wrong here!

I think it mainly applies to Virgin's Flagship hotels where the best room available at the time you check in should, in theory, be allocated to you. Personally, whether you are a Frequent Virgin Cardholder, (I am), or not, I would insist on being moved to a suitable room if I am not satisfied anyway. Producing your card at the desk should help but I feel that most reservation staff probably wouldn't be aware of this particular Virgin bonus anyway.

thanks - i didn't want to ask at check in anyway!

There is a difference between Frequent Virgins (VH ) and Frequent Flyers (Virgin Flying Club). As an FC member, I am not aware of such upgrades. If they do exist for VH, then I would expect it to be part of the booking - not a matter for the hotel concerned.

I believe it is at the descretion of the hotel and yes you DO have to show your card at check-in and ask for the upgrade

It is not every hotel in the brochure but there is a list of the hotels who have agreed to FV upgrades on the FV website - which you can link to via the main VH site.

For me the main FV benefit is the 10% discount and car upgrade.

:)

It is at the discretion of the hotel but it depends on availability. In Grenada, we got upgraded 7 categories of room being told we were Virgin VIP's by check-in staff. Got an ocean front room instead of a garden room.

We are frequent virgins (holidays) and when we get our holiday pack through (i.e. the vouchers/tickets from Virgin Holidays) it has always said on the hotel voucher part 'VIP frequent virgins' or words to that extent, and we have always been given upgraded rooms without asking :thumbsup2

yes, it has to be part of the booking....if it's only pointed out at check-in, it's too late..

same as with any special card...i have hilton whatever it's called...i tell them at booking and then i automatically get all the nonsense when i check in (upgrade, complimentary meal, concierge, whatever they're pushing in that particular establishment)....

I agree with the advice already mentioned. It is worth mentioning your FVC membership when checking in, but few (if any) establishments will take any notice or go out of their way to upgrade your room. It's always worth a try, though :sunny:

HHonors is completely different to Virgin Flying Club in terms of room upgrades. You can choose your preferences on the HHonor website, and then when you check-in your chosen preference is guaranteed to be honoured (however I think this only for Gold VIP or Platinum members). We have chosen things varying from a complimentary upgrade to club level, a few thousand extra points, late check-out, etc.....

i just have regular......i've never specified anything, but they always seem to upgrade me....no complaints..

by the way, i never reserve online...ever ever...i'm a throwback....i have to speak with a human being...i don't care if it costs me more....i don't do online....not ever.....

Last year when we stayed at a VH Flagship hotel on our accommodation voucher it had 'Virgin VIP best room avaialble' printed on the bottom, and we are FVC members.

You don't need to reserve online (I don't)......but if you log on to your account at the HHonors website, there is an area where you can input numerous preferences (high floor, close to elevator, 2 beds...etc) plus a section where you can choose your "bonus" such as an upgrade etc. Then when you check-in they just check your "profile" to see your preferences.

:wizard:

Sorry for going OT :)

Out of interest, which hotel are you staying in? Perhaps you could email them a day or two before you arrive mention you're a "frequent virgin". They may set you up in a better room? And save embarrassment of asking?

I got my tickets through and it doesn't have VIP - frequent virgin on them.

I wish that could phone the hotel and ask but i am too embarrassed!

Think we had the VIP best room thing as staying in a Flagship and FVC hotel.

Pardon the interruption - silly American popping in because he saw this thread title show up on the main page. You guys get to be "frequent virgins" in the UK? I'm not quite sure how that works, andI probably don't want to know.

Take care,
Sal

The full name is Frequent Virgin Club and refers to the loyalty club run by Virgin Holidays that you can join when you have booked your third holiday through them! Not a silly question if you are not familiar with Virgin Holidays.
