I just got my FVC card, and am I right in thinking I can't get any benefit out of this until we book a new trip?

I notice the card says discount has dropped to 5% as well, which is just awful, surely you would think as a member you'd get a discount over that which is available to the general public by booking online or joining the VA flying club for free?

The website says 10% discount is valid until the end of the year though, and there's currently 15% off Florida and the Caribbean for 2010 if you book by July, so that's pretty good I guess, but I think we'll be doing the West coast next year....

Can't say I'm particularly excited anymore about this, I originally thought it would reap some good benefits. Also do I lose the membership if I don't spend enough again next year?

we are on the old system so we still get the 10% off and we dont have to worry about the spend either which is handy

Also I have heard from my friends at VA that the flyer club discount is being reduced as well

I thought even on the old system if you didn't spend £6000 in a four year period you lost membership?

Claire ;)

we havent spent that much with them and we are still members

We just received ours too and, yes you are right, no benefits apply until you make your next booking.

With regard to how long membership lasts, this paragraph is taken from the Terms and Conditions shown on VH website:

2.3 Your membership is valid for a period of four years from the booking date of your last holiday with Virgin Holidays, after which, your membership will expire. Your membership will be renewed after this period, provided that you have travelled again at least twice within the last four year period with a cumulative holiday spend of £6,000 or more. Only bookings made directly with Virgin Holidays qualify towards Membership.

i thought the fvc discount was changed to 5 percent last year. Did you say that if we book before july for 2010 we would get 15 percent. Where did you read that? That would be great if we did.

It's a promo on the members website at the mo...

The VA FC discount dropped to 5% already I know that much.
And the FVC membership site indicates that this discount will be dropping soon too :sad1:

Yeah, makes sense during the current financial situation to take away any possible incentive people might have for flying with them.

Hopefully, I will get mine booked while the 15% deal is still on with FVC. We were hoping to use our 10% FC discount bt I guess that's a no go now.

i just priced up the offer on the members site and you can get the free counter service dining for moderates but to be honest its cheaper even with the discount to book with travel city direct for our dates

We have had the new brochure posted out to us and with it came a letter offering 15% discount on next year's holiday if we book by end of July 2009.
