Would anyone else here just LOVE it if Disney would get on board with the idea of a frequest guest program like Marriott has?? Those of us who keep going back again and again should be rewarded somehow for our loyalty, don'tcha think??

That would be a great idea but Marriott doesn't have a lot of rate discounts. I would rather get a rate discount than some points. BTW, I am a preferred Marriott member.

That's why I stay at the Dolphin. I get points AND an upgrade and a Heavenly Bed. :teeth:

Points, pincode, emails, postcards - Anything to show the appreciate my business.

Disney doesn't need to give out loyalty points for hotel stays because they know they have loyal customers willing to pay the price and stay at the hotels without loyalty points. Let's face it -- points only appear to be free -- the customer pays for those loyalty points somehow.

One thing to remember with most of the points programs - if you work out how much you spend at the chain to get the "free" room you would surprised at how little the reward really is. I travel quite a bit for work and do get to keep all my points and the only ones that we use regularly are the frequent flyer miles for tickets - the hotel points take a bit of time to build

I do wish Disney would do that as long as they continue to offer reduced room rates. We did get the Starwood Preferred Guest Amex to earn points toward free nights at the Swan/Dolphin.

Frequent flyer/guest programs are designed to attract and keep customers ("I have to stay there, I have points"). The reward comes in because that's what they may need to provide in order to get your repeat business (and as others have pointed out, in many cases they aren't much of a reward). Disney doesn't need to do this because they have a pretty much guaranteed customer base with extremely high occupancy rates. (And you will note that at the times when the occupancy rates are down, the discounts come out to improve it).

Naw
I just appreciate when CM's recognize us and welcome us back WITHOUT having to look in their computer and say "oh - it's the XXX party again"

I know frequent points aren't all they're cracked up to be...I guess I was really just looking for some kind of appreciation from Disney for being one of those loyal guests. The only person who has ever recognized my DH and I was the VERY nice & talented gentleman who used to play piano at the Brown Derby. We met him on our honeymoon & chatted a while and ever since, whenever we caught his eye upon entering the restaurant he would always play our wedding song for us as his next number ("Just the Way You Look Tonight")...he even did that for me when I was there without DH on a Girls-Only family reunion trip!

I have never received a code/postcard/or anything from Disney. As much as we go there, it would be nice if they tracked frequency on their system so that whoever checked us in could give a more personal welcome.

I know that on an individual basis they reward you when you are a repeat guest. From my own experience and talking with the CMs They do special things for repeat guests (in most cases) and some times it is a simple as recognizing you and other times it is getting the same room you had before or even special gifts in your room. I know many stories where people were given something special and I know of some things that the Polynesian in particular does for many longtime visitors but if I told you it would not be a secret anymore would it? It may not be points but I will take it.

I have Starwood points up to my ears and to me it is not worth the feel of staying at the Polynesian or many of the other Disney Resorts.

Lol... when I first read that I thought it said "pinecone" instead of "pincode". I was thinking, why would she want pinecones for ??? :confused3 :rotfl2:

Since I'm a frequent visitor, I have an Annual pass, so I've always thought of the AP discount sort of like a frequent visitor discount.

I second what Tikiman and BlondeAlligator said. DH and I have become friendly with the pastry chef at Kona Cafe and she sent over a special dessert for our anniversary in July 2005. It's the little things like this that get us, not rewards or points. We know what Disney costs, and we save for each and every trip. Sure it would be great to see some sort of "program" but I really don't think they need to. As far as Disney is concerned, business is GOOD.

:moped:

Disney already offers the best frequent renter program I could imagine -- it's called the Disney Vacation Club.
