Hi everyone,

As per title which one would you suggest? POFQ is only a few hundred more than a preferred room at pop and it includes the full quick service dining plan with reffiliable mug for 14 nights. I do go to HS few times so the skyliner is tempting. It will just be myself and no children for this trip. I will be having rest days at the resort so maybe POFQ might be the best? Would love to hear for those who’ve stayed at both or either.

Any advice would be appreciated.

While I'm not the biggest Skyliner fan (especially as a solo - I don't like being stuck in the sky with strangers), I have a really hard time justifying a Moderate resort right now as they offer no additional park perks from the Values. So I basically forget that Moderates exist right now and save the money for other things and stay in a Value resort.

(I am more likely to do Disney Springs rest days as public pools skeeve me out so a rest day at the resort where basically all there is to do is the pool have no pull for me.)

So POP does not include the dining plan? If so, I'd choose POFQ. If they both include the dining plan, I'd go with the cheaper option.

When we stayed at AS and had to get to HS early, we took an uber.

Apologies. I forgot to mention Pop does include dining plan but it’s the very basic version with just the one meal per day and is another £400 to upgrade to the next plan. Which then makes it nearly the same price as POFQ

Thank you. That was the only thing putting me off the skyliner was with sharing with families, I know you share busses but it’s a bit more awkward when you’re in a confined space but that is true with them not having any better perks.

French Quarter is a wonderful atmosphere for resort days (small footprint) with the ability to walk/boat to Riverside as well as boat to Disney Springs. I love how close the quick serve is to the feature pool for mug refills and snacks too on pool days. The vibe at FQ is tops and depending on when you are going, you may have a newly refurbed room at FQ. My vote is FQ!

If POFQ is just a few hundred dollars more in total for a two week trip, go with POFQ.

Thank you, I did see about the refurbishment. Do you know if they Are completely re doing them or is it just a soft refurbishment ? I will be going in November 2025 so a bit of a wait!

My vote is FQ, for many of the reasons already listed. The resort is so much smaller, with excellent theming. We have always found the transportation to be very efficient. I think it will have a much more relaxed feel than POP. The boat to DS is wonderful and it gives you many more dining options.
I hope you have a wonderful trip no matter which you choose!

If POFQ gives you the full dining plan as opposed to one meal per day at Pop, doesn’t it work out to be cheaper to stay at POFQ anyways?

We have stayed at both. We definitely prefer PO-FQ. We found the Skyliner to be way to crowded in the mornings and the transportation at PO-FQ is usually good. There is no comparison as far as which resort is best for resort days. We also like the food court better at PO and the boat ride to Downtown Disney.

I'm not a WDW CM, so I don't know for sure, but it's quite possible that at least most of the room refurbs at POFQ will be done by your trip next year.

I'd definitely choose POFQ, for several reasons, many of which have already been mentioned, but one that hasn't is that it's quiet there. And I'm not just referring to the general noise level outside, I'm talking about the rooms being really pretty well insulated against noise from other rooms and also from outside. The same cannot be said for Pop.

POFQ is only a 10-minute bus ride from Epcot and maybe 12 minutes from DHS. And . . . beignets, boat ride to DS, beautiful grounds.

ETA: I don't know if you're interested in walking, since there's already a lot of walking in the parks, but POFQ has another advantage, which is that it's a fantastic walk between POFQ and POR along the waterfront. And just walking around the grounds of the resort is a pleasure.

I have taken the Skyliner many, many times as a solo traveler on a route to/from Pop. I did not find it awkward at all and actually had some decent, albeit brief conversations. Personally, that wouldn't derail me from choosing Pop.

Why not do a split stay? Are you staying 14 nights per the refillable mug comment?

You will be good in November 2025. They are slated to be finished in February 2025. (hard goods) and the rooms look great!

Since you are arriving well after the refurbishment should be complete, I would pick POFQ. I have stayed at both Pop and POFQ many times. If there was a big difference in price, I would say stay at whichever one is cheaper. But with both of them costing nearly the same, I would pick POFQ. You get to use the amenities at POR (where there is also a table service restaurant), plus there is boat transportation to DS, and POFQ is a very compact resort. Although you will use buses to get to the parks, there is just one bus stop and I have never had bad bus service there.

I have not had a bad stay at either resort, so I don’t think you can make a bad choice. Most of the time I have been alone in my Skyliner gondola unless traveling at park open or park close, and even then, we were not packed like sardines as you could be on a bus. So don’t let riding the Skyliner as a solo worry you if you do decide to stay at Pop.

The refurbishment is supposed to be finished by Feb. 2025. Even if it gets delayed several more months, the OP is pretty much guaranteed a new room by November of next year. :)
The website states it is supposed to be finished November 2024…?

Updated info. has been posted on the last page of the POFQ resort thread. Only building one has re-opened with renovated rooms so far. So I’m guessing the renovation will be pushed out even further than February.
