Yea!!! I was chosen to host the French House Party!! Anyone else? Any idea what they will be sending us? Will it just be coupons or will there be actual wine and cheese?

I was selected to host the French Cocktail Hour House Party! It's my first House Party so I'm just figuring out the ropes.

But I'm a little confused. I thought that they would be sending wine and cheese for the party. Instead, it seems that they are only giving 15% off coupons for the wine if purchased at Sams Wine. I also have to purchase the cheese myself, but I get free shipping and a free cutting board. This is sounding like an expensive House Party.

The party pack is supposed to include:
Your FREE French Cocktail Hour party pack is on its way with exclusive gifts like a French music CD, decorations, napkins, corkscrew, apron, and money saving coupons for lots of delicious french goodies to make the party une grande affaire!

So I'm excited that I got picked, but I'm not sure that hosting a wine and cheese party is in my budget right now. I'd love to hear other DISers' thoughts on this. Thanks!

I didn't get in this one....but I do agree wine and cheese for 10-19 people could get pricey.

Maybe they went by the "How much do you normally spend on a party" question, however it's worded???

Maybe if you truly limit it to just a "tasting" party and not a free-for-all-stuff-yourself-with-french-wine-and-cheese party you could do it for a small fee. Good luck and have fun!!!

I've been following the Blog posts too....It does seem confusing. I would hold off until you get the package & see what the actual coupons are for. There could be some good ones in there.

If not, I'm sure you can figure a way to throw a budget party Cheap wine, Cheap Cheese. It's all about the atmosphere & getting the brand names out there....I don't think you'll actually have to serve the $89 cheese.

Good advice. I'll probably just invite a few girl friends over (instead of the entire neighborhood!) and sample some wine! However, being the wine lovers that we are... it might be hard to avoid the free-for-all

We have a pretty good local deli and I'm sure they have some French cheese. I'll come up with something. Thanks!

Where did you see this information. i was also picked and I can't find out about the coupins. I've never heard of Sams wine so I'm not sure if they are by me. Where would you purchase the cheese with the free shipping and how would you get it in time if we are waiting for the package. sorry for so many questions, I've done the house parties before and this one seems confusing. I'm also not happy they want us to do this party on a thursday night. Everyone has work the next day. AAGghHHH

Hi OP! Congrats! I did not get chosen but there is another active thread about this very party on the Disboards http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2163484 that lists what you all will receive! It looks like (according to the OP of that thread) that you will get % off coupons for the wine, and you have to purchase the wine and cheese yourself, but other goodies will be sent! Have a fun party! I love House Parties, it is a great excuse for a get together!

It looks like they picked applicants that choose the $250+ option when asked..."what do you spend on your parties?" I guess this time, they are holding the party hosts to their application answers.

Go to houseparty.com & register. Then you can apply for the parties that interest you. They pick & choose...out of thousands of applicants. They usually send a pretty nice party pack. You invite your friends over & have a party!

I am also a confirmed French Cocktail House Party. Thursday night was not a great option, but I thought we were getting many items shipped to us. I just received my FedEx confirmation for a 5.4 lb box. I hope I wasn't a lucky winner of the apron & paper napkins

Has anyone else received their party pack yet? I got mine today & was majorly bummed out!! Napkins, crepe paper, coupons, magnets & corkscrew plus a few other cheesy things. Apparently, we have to supply the whole party.

They are the same ones offered from the direct link to the website igourmet 15% off purchase & free cheese cutting board with free shipping if you purchase the french cheese selection. I'm really disappointed. I thought we would get something to atleast get the party started, like cheese & beverages. I can understand purchasing more items, but I didn't think we would be expected to foot the entire party bill.

Didn't get chosen here....I seem to get all the tv show ones although I did get the clairol one What did you all put in the "how would you make this party special" box? That's always a tough one for me. LOL
