It was just in the 80's a few days ago, right now, it's 59 degrees here near Houston, TX. I've got the heater set to 75 and am walking around the house in sweats. I don't know how all of y'all up north can survive with snow all winter. brrrr....I think I'd die...

How in the world did people survive before central air/heat???

If I were a goose, I wouldn't stop in Texas for the winter, I'd keep going to Mexico.

Good grief, my feet are freezing, I'm going to have to find some thicker socks or slippers.

I hear ya, as I sit here in florida in the heater :cold: it got down to the upper 30's last night. IN FLORIDA! IN OCTOBER!!!

I don't know what is going on!! We are socked in, up here, and have been for 4 days now! Cold, damp fog! The rest of the state is in the upper 60's and 70's!! Gloom!!! :guilty:

Well here in NH we have a nor'easter, a hurricane and a tropical storm all rolled into one rolling through. It's in the low 40's and pouring, and the wind is downright scary. I don't know how the regular hurricane areas live through that. The heat is still not on in my dorm, but I'm plenty warm except when morons set off the fire alarm cooking popcorn and we have to go freeze in our pj's in the 30 degree air. I'm actually comfortable now that I've changed into dry clothes (fleece pants, sweatshirt and fuzzy socks). That'll change though when I go ford the river in a couple hours to get to my conference with my professor

Warning....Don't be tricked by the Texans!!!
Their weather is fantastic! It may be a tad chilly but the sun shines without a cloud in the sky. It is truely wonderful!!!

Sleepyone, it is cold when you do not see the sun for days and days on end.

I still have NOT turned my heat on. I love it!

It is a chilly day in San Antonio but the sky is blue, sun is shining :sunny: and the air crisp....Yes, my tootsie's are a bit cold but I will take this over the 104* of a few weeks ago. :cool1:

I'll be "freezing" at Minute Maid Park tonight since the roof will be open!

It's our second spring here in Texas. We just finished the worst of our 5 seasons: HELL.

You have two springs here, April and October.

One summer: May to June

One HELL: July to September

One fall: November

One mild winter: December - March

I feel your pain!!

I usually keep the heat on 75 too, but this year DH and I agreed to keep it lower due to the new and improved prices :(

Yesterday I was so cold - I checked and it was 65 in the house! I can't stand it below 72. I was so tempted to turn on the heat, but instead I put on two pair of heavy socks, a turtleneck, a sweatshirt, and heavy sweatpants. I was still cold, as I was breathing cold air. So I went out last night and bought a space heater. DH hates them as they are fire hazzards and kids can be burned by them, but our girls are old enough now to know not to touch and I'm not stupid enough to use it with an extension cord, put it near the bathtub, the drapes, etc, and my parents always used one when I was growing up. Also, I found one that is "cool touch" - the outside of it doesn't get hot! So...here I sit with my space heater at my feet. At least this little corner of my house is not subartic - lol :)

(btw, DH likes the cold and was quite comfortable at 65...he had to suffer while it was hot and we kept it 75 -78 :teeth: )

Laurie - who doesn't want it cold until after Halloween and is ready for warm weather right after New Year's!

This seems quite accurate!! :rotfl2:

It's been crazy here in southeast TN. It was 80 and then overnight it went in the 30s. I LOVE this cold weather though. In warm weather I just sleep in an oversized t-shirt. Baby I got my pajamas on now and I love it!! :) :) :)

We just broke down and stuck the heat on when it went down to 35 degrees!! :rotfl: And me teen son still runs around the house in his short!

Sounds like DD12, tank top and shorts and nothing on her feet, makes me colder just looking at her :rotfl: It's 35 here now, went down 1 degree in the last half hour.

I am in DFW area and this is already too cold for me. Granted when the sun comes out it feels good, but Sunday really stunk...lol. I can't wait until May. I am one of those people that LOVE the heat. I am going to Tampa for Christmas and hoping for some warmer weather...but who knows.

I thought it was cold yesterday morning when the temp hit 48. Well this morning it is 43!!!

This is just wrong. :cold:

In the 30's here in the mountains - upstate NY.. Electric heat is on, but this is a summer place and not insulated, so it's still kind of chilly.. Dressed in layers and should be fine once I start moving around.. If push comes to shove and I'm sitting idle, I'll use my heating pad.. :)

I have to say, I would love to be in Texas or Florida right now. I travel to Dallas and Houston for work sometimes and LOVE the weather...it's such a relief to the east coast :) Speaking of which, has anyone from the Dallas, DFW area run across this blog? http://www.dallasblog.com I think it's realtively new, but are some great links to local organizations, community activities, etc. I'll have to use it as a source for my next trip :)

In the 40's here today, but at least it stopped raining so it's not a "damp" cold..

Heading home this weekend but it will probably be colder there - my DD uses natural gas for heat and I'm sure my son-in-law has it set pretty darn low.. ;)

OMG, you have your heat set to SEVENTY FIVE??? You are my HERO.... I live in the Northeast and it is the absolute pits :( I despise the cold like you have no idea... Once the kids are finished with school, I'm outta here, whether or not DH wants to go.. I'll see him over summers! :teeth:
