Please bear with me all as this is my first attempt at a trip report, but other fab reports on here have inspired me to have a go!
Cast: Me-Diane (36)-probably most excited out of us all to be returning to DLRP,
DH-Barry (46)-happy to go if it makes his girls happy! - DD1-Alicia (9) excited about going, collecting more autographs no 1 aim, DD2-Louise (6) almost matching me in the excited stakes
We had planned our trip as a Christmas present for the girls. After great advice from other DISers, I bought a helium balloon with Mickey, Pluto and Donald on it and attached a label onto it, saying 'Mickey and friends invite you to come and play at Disneyland Paris from 2nd Jan-5th Jan 2009'. I then put it into a box, which I then wrapped up. As there was so much going on on Christmas Day, I saved it until Boxing Day for maximum impact. Before I gave it to them, I got my mum to start a conversation about our trip to DLRP in August, the girls had great fun reminiscing-then they opened their present, the balloon floated out and they found out they were about to go back!! Cue much excited jumping up and down (and that was just me
)
Friday 2nd January
We left home at 6.45am for our 9.05am train from Folkestone (thanks Clubcard vouchers!!). Nice easy journey, train was on time, and before we knew it we were in France.
Again a nice easy journey from Calais, we had some sandwiches in the car rather than stop and waste any time(!). We decided to go straight to the MK and check into our offsite hotel later.
Even the entrance gates into the car park wow us when we arrive, and the first sight of the magic castle is always so special. We parked up-there were more cars in the car park than our trip in mid August
which amazed (and worried) me. We stepped out of the car and
was it COLD!!!!
Still thanks to you lovely DISers forewarned was forearmed and we were equipped with thermals, ski wear for the girls and hats, gloves, scarves etc (I don't usually feel the cold and had only thrown in a scarf and gloves at the last min after reading the boards-thank goodness I had!
) The contrast between our August arrival when it was around 101 degrees, and this time when it was barely even 1 degree, was marked shall we say!!
Anyway, not ones to let the cold beat us, we were on our way into the park, me and DD2 embarrassing the other 2 by singing It's A Small World as we went along the travelators!!
First thoughts on arrival was that the Christmas decorations looked lovely, the girls were wowed by the tree,
[/IMG]
and wanted a photo on the sleigh

We then walked into Main Street and heard a whooshing windy sound-followed by snow! Having read about it I was so pleased we had caught it straightaway. DD2 eyes were like saucers as she watched it magically appear from the sky!
We wandered around for a while, there were huge queues for everything and we just wanted to soak up some of the atmosphere. It was soon time for the parade, so we went to the point it started at in the summer, only to find that was now the end point. The floats came really close to us, and the girls loved seeing the characters so near to them-Cinderella blew them a kiss which made their day!
We went on the teacups, DH took the girls on the Carousel and we finally made it onto IASW which had been very busy all afternoon. I love that ride, it always puts a smile on my face
By this point we decided we had better leave the park and find our hotel and check in as we were all weary from a long day's travelling. We had spotted McDs near our hotel on our way to the park so decided to go there and grab something to eat.
By this point I was feeling unwell
, achy and shivery
. We grabbed a quick McDs and then went to our hotel.
We were staying at the PremierClasse at Bussy St Georges as this was a budget trip. DH was horrified by the tiny room
, though it was kind of what I expected for the price, and importantly it was clean.
We all soon fell asleep, ready for our next day's adventures....
