Great news for allergy sufferers but BAD news for farmers. They have not been able to get into the fields because of the flooding in the state and now if the crops freeze they will most likely be lost. It's about a month early for the first freeze here. Here's hoping it doesn't get that cold

Supposed to drop to 32 degrees here tonight - a bit too early for that here.. It only reached about 53 degrees all day today and I've been chilly since I got up this morning..

We've had sporadic nights like this in the past 2 weeks or so.. I'm just hoping this doesn't mean an early winter - which means I have to leave here early!

Good luck in your neck of the woods..:goodvibes

Sounds exactly like our weather today. Tonight is the homecoming dance and all those poor girls in their dressed outside freezing while parents take pictures. It was a beautiful fall day, but not so much when you are wearing a strapless dress :lmao:

Brrrrrrr...:eek::eek:

don't scare me yet. We're planning a road trip to Indiana in the next couple of weeks. I barely brought any of my warm clothes, because I figured Dallas would be hot. Surprisingly enough a couple of cool fronts have come through, making it 50's at night and beautiful 70's during the day.

A bit nippy here this morning. Still less than 40F here.

Had to take the new puppy out about 5AM and there was frost on the grass. She was fascinated! Have to get out the knitting needles and make her a sweater!

39* here at 8:00 when I looked. Sure feels cold out! Just think, in January that will seem like a heat wave!!!

It's 36 here right now. We didn't get an "official" freeze, which is good. There is a heavy coat of frost everywhere-it does look pretty. We are supposed to be back up in the mid 70's by the end of the week but the overnight temps are pretty cool.

Its a little chilly here. I think its time to close the pool and bring in my gardenia tree. (I live in denial of winter). ;)

It was 34 degrees at 9:20 a.m. today.. "Warmed up" to mid 50's by 3 p.m. or so.. Back down in the very low 30's tonight.. I think tomorrow is supposed to be sunny (probably mid 50's again), but then rain the following 3 or 4 days.. I'm sure that will make it feel much chillier in here during the day, due to the dampness..

I don't mind the cold nights - I prefer sleeping in the cold with no heat on - but being chilly during the day does seem to bother me..

Oh well.. When it comes to the weather, we're never "really" satisfied, are we? ;)

I dunno. When I look out on the Autumn vista of the mountains to the north, or when I see a field of corn basking in the summer sun, or when I see the first shoots of an iris popping out of the ground in the spring, and I realize that all of that wonderful diversity is made possible by all the aspects of our weather, not just the pleasant ones, that fills me with the capacity to be satisfied with even the hurricanes and droughts.

I love your outlook. So true, Bicker.

DD and I walked in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk yesterday morning along the Charles River in Boston. We absolutely froze! I ended up spending our lunch money to buy a shirt that DD could put over her sweater. When we got home we were inside, bundled up in blankets and sweatshirts. I looked at the inside thermometer in my house and it was only 65. I refuse to turn on the heat in early October, though, so we just stayed wrapped up. I am fine with the changing seasons but I just wish we had been better prepared for it to stay cold as the day wore on.

Whatever happened to that season...what was it called...oh, yeah: Autumn!?

We seem to go immediately from baking to freezing anymore. Good thing we're not made out of glass!

Or maybe that's what I get for moving from NY to NC...

This is very true - and I've been working hard to appreciate all types of weather, no matter what.. Once in awhile I find myself mumbling/grumbling again, but then I try to stop and remember that "good" can come from all types of weather if we really think about it.. Of course all of my Amish research and reading has helped with my attitude a great deal.. As far as they're concerned, there's no such thing as "bad" weather.. Whatever the day brings, there is something beautiful and good to be had from it..:goodvibes
