I leave for Las Vegas on Thursday, is Freemont Experience worth going to? And what exactly is it?

We usually spend one evening on Fremont Street and that area. It is basically a light show that takes place every 30 minutes or so. I thought it was entertaining and there were some other things outside too such as a Elvis impersonator posing for photos, a spray paint artist. A great people watching place at the very least.

How far is it from the strip? How much would a taxi be or is there a better way to get there?

I forget how much the taxi is as we did that once years back. All the other times that we are staying on the strip we take the bus. Its not an awful experience, its not expensive either. It stops at all of the main hotels along the strip.

It's definitely worth spending a few hours downtown...there's lots of history in some of those old casinos. The Viva Vision show runs every 15 or 30 minutes and if you don't like one just wait around for the next one or the next one...you're sure to find something you like. Wander in and out of the old casinos, have dinner at Binion's steakhouse, and take a detour down to take a look at some of the old neon signs that have been restored by the Neon Museum. There's usually live music on the street and some of the most interesting people watching you'll ever have a chance to do!

My DBF and I did the Fremont Experience last SuperBowl Sunday. I though it was pretty neat. It was a patriotic theme. I don't know how often they change it. There were alot of shops with cheap cheap prices on Vegas souveniors.

The words for you. Deep. Fired. Twinkies.

Are these good? I have never tried them but there is a place that sells them by me and they have deep fried Snickers and Oreos too!

Hey all! First post here!! I think the oreos are the best thing ever!! Love them and love Freemont Street, esp. when it's warm!

It was pretty brite. I loved it!! We ate dinner for two people it was like $12, we ate at Binnions. I am not really into deep fried foods, but if i would have liked twinkies then i would have tried one.

The Fremont Street Experience is worth your time. There are several different shows each night. We have stayed on the strip several times, but have opted to stay downtown for the last 5 or 6 times we have been there. The small casinos are more our style. We ride the bus to the strip. The nice thing is that we do all of our running around during the day and then hang around downtown in the evening. The taxi ride could run you $10-15.
