Freedom of Seas or Independence of Seas?

We have never cruised before and have our first cruise this Sept. for 4 nights. Saw a few good deals for October 2015 and am thinking of booking one. We are trying to decide between an Eastern Caribbean on the Independence or Western on Freedom. It would be Myself, DH and DD (6). The price is $300 less on Independence and we are leaning toward and Eastern itinerary . From what I understand both ships are almost identical, but seems like many families with young kids are booking Freedom. Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated!

I have sailed on both and there is no real difference in the ships. I enjoyed both very much. Choose the ports that are the most interesting to you and your family. Also the port you would prefer to sail from. Canaveral is about a 45 min drive from Orlando. Ft. Lauderdale is about 10 min from the airport.

They are basically identical, Freedom probably does get more kids because they sail of Port Canaveral, the closest port to Disney. Indy sails out of Fort Lauderdale. A lot of families combine an Orlando trip with the cruise. Independence will have plenty of kids too, and all the same clubs and programs for the kids.

I would just pick the price and Itinerary you like, the ship itself will be the same. Have fun cruises are great

Thanks so much for the info. We decided to switch our week to go and do an Eastern on the Freedom. I think our DD would really enjoy the Dreamworks characters.
