I just got a HORRIBLE email..

NO MORE FREE MOVIE CODES FROM REDBOX (beginning May 11)!

I guess too many people were using them. They're going to send out one code a month through the summer, and then that's it.

Every time my son walks by a redbox he says "Dad do you have any codes?"!!!

I can top that. Tonight DH and I went to KFC and a girl was taping signs to the doors DUE TO OVERWHELMING RESPONSE WE ARE NOT ABLE TO HONOR THE 2 PIECE FREE MEAL TODAY. COME INSIDE FOR A COUPON TO BE MAILED AT A LATER DATE AND WE WILL ADD A FREE PEPSI.

The girl said it was not their store but that it had come from corporate. Lots of angry people there.

We did sign up to get the free meal. You had to sign up AND give them your coupon. Now to see if it comes

They still do have promo codes out there, like right now @ our McDonald's, if you buy a combo meal you get a little card with a code on it for a free rental. I am not sure if all McD's are doing this or not?!

I think they always run some type of promo, it just will no longer be a free weekly movie for now. I do not begrudge them for finally ending the promotion... they are afterall a company and are in business to make money! I am sure it ended up being a big loss, as the codes were posted on all types of freebie sites, in addition to their site! It was good while it lasted though! It was good for them as well... it helped to become familiar with them and the codes got people to try them! We (my family) are hooked!

We used a free code a couple of times ourselves (during the Wed. code promo). I simply love Red Box! We exclusively use Red Box for rentals now, you cannot beat $1.00 for new release movies. Before they came to town, we did Family Video which was nearly $3.00 per movie and the same per night price for every night thereafter. Red Box is so much cheaper and I love that they can be taken back to any Red Box locations, even in other states!

I am pretty sure thats the same company that contacts DH-- and its a rip off. Do they send you test equipment, and you keep it? LOL some place sent us junk emails and mail for the longest time. Dh is a big time golfer. I think DH signed up with them online though- thats how they found out about him

I always think if they are sending you really expensive stuff for free-- there is usually a catch.

DH and I tried to use the coupons today, but were told they had "run out of product" to honor the coupon. We filled out the form to get a new coupon. By running out of product, we wondered if they meant they had run out of chicken wings and drumsticks. They continued to sell everything else.

They told me this too when i tried to redeem it today. I was told that they were sorry and i would get the rain check. I told her that I had 4 coupons and she told me that each rain check had to have a different name on it. This was fine with me since 2 were for my kids anyway. She kept apologizing to me and then thanking me for not getting upset. I told her no problem. That i was not going to get angry over free food. People must be treating these poor workers so bad when it is not their fault.

I think it is funny that KFC didn't realize the wave of people clambering for a free meal! Uh, this was poorly planned but I like that they are TRYING to fix it. (still trying to decide if I want a rain check) Maybe some people ought to calm down. I like the attitude you girls have, nothing ventured, nothing lost.
