Another DVC member has planned to have a small decorated tree in their home away from home during their vacation and will be checking out on the day that I arrive. We got in touch through the DIS and they are generously having the tree shipped to our room after they check out. I would like to pass it on to another DVCer.

We will be checking out of the VWL on Dec 19. If anyone is checking into a DVC resort on that day and would like a pre lit and decorated small tree let me know by private message. I will give it to the first person I am able to make firm plans with.

Of course this all depends on the fact that the original plan works and the tree is delivered to our room.

Thanks.
Donald

We'll deliver the tree to Old Key West after our VWL stay. Thank you to whomever began the give-away-tree!

What a cute idea! I will be going the first two weeks of Dec. next year. Maybe we should do that then too!

I think that I am the current end of the chain. I am checking out on 12/25. Does someone want to continue the Christmas sprit?

I am now the proud recipient of this wonderful DIS tree. Thanks to all of you. I am not sure who the first person is either. We are there right through New Years, so maybe I better pack up the decorations and all and ship to the first DIS'er next year! We usually go Thanksgiving so maybe we can start the chain again. Wow - a new DIS family tradition! How thoughtful of you all! We will proudly display 12/25 to 1/2, Any takers for 1/2? Bit late, so I will pack what I can and post next year/

The person who started this all was twinmomplus2. She posted to a thread where the original poster asked about what people do to decorate their "homes". She mentioned the tree and how she is checking out on the 14th and wanted to pass it along to someone who was checking in that day. I responded to her post, and the rest, as they say, is history.

This could be the start of a fun tradition. I think each person should add an ornament to the tree, or a picture of the family around the tree (if you are able to take a picture and output it or have it developed during your stay) so each participant will leave their mark.

I leave for the hotel at the airport in a few minutes. I will be waiting for the tree to show up tomorrow so we can begin the relay. Hopefully no one will break the chain.

I will check back when we get home to try to get in touch with all of the other "tree people" to see how it went.

Everyone heading "Home" for the holidays, have a safe trip and a wonderful time.

I have the first picture of the boys near the tree at the Boardwalk. I am afraid. Donald@home. Had to take some time straightening out the branches. I hope both packages arrived fairly intact to WLV's.
I guess instread of blue ornaments I should have looked for lime green...
If anyone knows how to post the link to my online, photo-album at ofoto. I will be happy to share our photos!

Just Back-

The tree arrived late in the day while we were out at dinner. When it wasn't there by 6:00 I thought it wasn't going to make it and I would have to head out and buy a tree to pass on to everyone, but there it was in our room when we got back. A bit bent, but nothing a few minutes of straightening branches couldn't take care of. It was PERFECT! After enjoying it all week I left it at the front desk of the VWL for the next person, and a new tradition has begun.

I didn't take any pictures of it, so if someone can help post a link to the pictures I would appreciate it.

Donald

I am afraid I missed all the thread action regarding the tree while I was gone. And thus did not take a photo of the tree. the one I have of the boys in front of the tree is not as clear of the tree as I thought. If you click on my trip report photo link, You can see it behind the boys to the left.....

The tree was IN OUR ROOM, lit, and waiting for us to appreciate it.

We brought it to Old Key West before we left, and were assured it would get to CarolA. We got lots of ohhs and ahhs as we expained our mission to people in line waiting for their check-in and OKW.

What a great trip we had, our first trip home was wonderful, and the tree was the icing on the cake.
