My DH has only one question this entire trip. Free wifi anywhere? Yes he is on vacation but he is in charge of everything at his job so god forbid he leaves for a week and there is a melt down he would need to be able to access his work computer via his laptop. We will pay if need be but would rather not if its only for 10 min vs an entire day of wifi! TIA

I think that DVC members get free internet when they are staying on points in a vacation club resort. Everyone else pays for internet access.

There's a fee in almost all cases. The DVC access noted above is wired, so only available in your resort room.

This is a good up to date summary of what's available throughout WDW: http://allears.net/acc/internet.htm

There is no guest wifi in the parks, not even paid. The only internet access you can get in the parks is via your wireless phone account (well, except for the public email kiosks in Innoventions at Epcot.)

What I did was split my 24 hour "day" into two days: I logged on in the afternoon the first day and in the morning the following day, getting enough time to check in on 2 days out of my one "wireless access" day. Then I skipped a "day" and logged in again on the afternoon of the third day.

Sorry but I do not have any answer for the free wifi but, I will tell you what I did for our vacation. We got CLEAR internet. It worked perfectly in our room both at Animal Kingdom Lodge and at the Poly. If you get the service for 1 month it will probably still be cheaper than paying $10.00 per day.

can you add it to your phone? We did that ( just for the month) We had access in our room too tho, we stayed at the Dolphin and it is in the $10 resort fee daily.

I don't know, but does McDonalds at DTD have it? I know alot of McD's do.

ETA If he needs it for work, shouldn't he just be able to submit it as a work expense?

You could always go into the lobby of a DVC resort and see if anyone has a wireless router "open".

There is no longer a McDonalds at DTD. In its place is Pollo Campero...which was totally empty Sunday night.

Are you flying down? If you have a car, the McDonald's just down the street from DTD has free wifi. I have gone there a few times.

But DH has a blackberry for work.....sorry to hijack, but is there a way to hook up the blackberry to the computer for interenet use? If so, I would like to know how.

Thanks,

Dawn

There is free wi-fi in Epcot in the Innoventions building heading towards the Land Pavilion (Soarin). We were just there last week so I can confirm that as of last week it was still working. That is the only place in "the world" that we were able to get any free wi-fi last week. It helped us enough to check email via our Ipod touch.

Wide World of Sports had Wi-Fi last Jan when I was there. I know there is also a local library just outside disney that will charge a small flat rate fee to use their computers/wi-fi for a week as an option for travelers.

If it's the McDonalds by the All Star resorts, they no longer offer free wifi. A friend was down there in Sept and I told her about the free wifi there. They went in, ordered, got their laptop all set up, only to find it was no longer offered. I felt really bad! I had read on here and another Disney board that wifi was available there as recent as a few weeks before their trip, so they must've changed it fairly recently.

I thought they were talking about the one off property. If you are driving towards DTD so that you first pass the west side entrance going toward marketplace entrance there will be a light and a road that veers right just past the marketplace entrance. You'll drive past the Hilton and a couple of the other non-disney hotels that are on the skirt of Disney property over there and then hit a main road as you go off of property (I can visualize it, just don't know the name of the road). You hang a left at that light and the McDonalds is maybe a block down on your right.

Ah, I know where you are talking about! I bet that is the one she's referring to :thumbsup2

I know I can do it, I just haven't set mine up, b/c we don't take the computer with us on our trips. I don't know if it is specifically our carrier or if you can do it with all carriers or not. I got a disk and instructions with my BB.

Rumor has it Big River Grille at Boardwalk has wi-fi. I haven't been there to try it out since I heard this rumor... September can't come fast enough popcorn::

We just returned, took our laptop, and since we have an AOL dialup account, we plugged our laptop to the phone jack and used a local number to connect. Local calls are free at the disney resorts. We used it everyday to check email and were not charged for the use of the phone. Dialup is slow, but good enough to check email..
dial 9 and the number

I am going to have DH ask his coworkers. We aren't techie people, although DH is more so than I.

Yes, this would be the one.

Across the street is a Disney entrance (from McDonald's), there is a Chevy's next to it.
