Free valet for Renters?

Do people who rent a reservation get free valet parking at VWL? I made a reservation for my parents' 50th anniversary and wanted to know if they get that service?

No. That perk is reserved for members and requires you to show your blue membership card. Not all have been asked for their card, but we have been asked several times.

When thay check in thay will get a parking pass that says DVC member. Also room key will say this. sent my sister she didn't have any problems using any thing a member get with out the blue card. she also go any discounts from just showing room key. Hope this helps you.

When you rent a reservation, you are technically a guest of the DVC owner, so you should get free valet parking priveleges. Our first 2 trips to WDW, we rented from a DVC owner and got the parking pass upon entry. Keep in mind that even though you get complimentary valet parking, you should still tip the valets.

Your sister was lucky; this is not always the case. I've often been asked for my blue member card when using the free valet parking, and discounts as well.

OP, don't assume that you'll get any of the member discounts. You can try, if you wouldn't find it embarrassing to be turned down if you couldn't produce a member ID.

No, TECHNICALLY our contracts distinguish between a renter or guests of the owner. Owners are contractually obligated to let DVC know when someone is paying them for their points, these people are entitled to no perks at all. Guests of members are entitled to SOME perks, but not all perks. The blue DVC card can be required for perks.

Now, truth is, DVC members tell member services about rentals about as often as individuals file use tax returns (you do file your use tax return, don't you?). And the truth is that OFTEN, you will get benefits by showing your room key, which is very likely to say "DVC Member" on it. Sometimes this will be valet parking, sometimes you may get dining discounts. Sometimes you may get by with pool hopping. If any renter gets "caught" doing these and asked to prove membership with the DVC member card, don't argue, you are in the wrong - these are member benefits. You'll never get AP discounts - that absolutely requires the member card (and your address must match).

Even DVC members must occasionally jump through hoops in order to get benefits - a lot of members find their "free" valet on their hotel bill and need to go through the bother to get it taken off their bill. Or they need to remind the waiter. I would think when you get to the hoop jumping point, they are more likely to check that you actually ARE a member.

(We've used any member perks rarely, but have ALWAYS had to jump through the hoops in order to use them - visit the front desk, remind the waiter, present the blue card).

Crisi is right, you'd better check whether it's free or not, because some have had the $10/day charges added to their room tab without any notification and then had a mess to fix at checkout.

At OKW the parking tags USED to say *MEMBER* Parking Permit. On our June trip, that was no longer the case. They had our name and dates, but no membership notation at all.

We were just there a week ago and valet parking was a nightmare. Even though we had our blue member card, we still got charged a couple of times at the Beach Club and had to go to the desk and SSR and get it removed.

The perk is for members only and as a member you will be lucky if you don't get charged.

Just got back Sunday from 10 days in WDW.

We used valet parking every day & almost always had to show our blue DVC card.

The Cast Member always has the right to ask to see the blue member card even if the room key has member printed on it!

DH always tips when valet brings the car to us, not when they drive it away.
He usually tips $5.00.
