No staying for 16 nights in all.

Got an upgrade from ASM to SSR for 14 nights.

other 2 nights are done on a seperate booking so that we qualify for free dining.

I cannot believe the smile on my face.

Amazing - did you ask for it, or was it just offered? What are your dates? We might see you there!

We arrive on 24 Aug and have 2 nights at ASMo. The on 26th Aug we move to SSR for 14 nights.

I contacted Disney and they gave me the upgrade (even though I was NOT on of the pre selected guests who got and email or postcard).

I must have spoken to the best reservation person on the planet!!!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Did you book direct with Disney in the end then? The reason I ask is that I thought I would try my luck and ask about an upgrade too. I was told that, because we booked through a TA (Dreams Unlimited) we could not make any alterations to our booking and, therefore, even if we were offered the free upgrade, it would all have to be done through DU. Makes me kind of wish that we had booked direct now - especially as she wouldn't even check to see if we had a PIN attached to our ressie :sad2:

Still, we were quite happy to be at ASMu before we were hearing about people getting upgraded so we will still enjoy ourselves - and be happy that we get to spend 3 days at SSR beforehand :)

Well done on your upgrade :thumbsup2

Hi

Do you regret booking with DU? The reason I ask is because, we booked ASMo without realising I put Callums age down wrong. I was a little curious as to how we were able to occupy a room with 5 of us. After I found out what I had done I immediately contacted DU to change the booking to PORR. However, DU changed the booking and asked for the additional deposit to be paid that day. I was working nights, unfortunately I didnt see the email. Disney had cancelled the booking and said they would refund the deposit on the 11th June. Which was 6 days later. Still no sign of the refund. Its so frustrating having to speak to DU and not Disney itself. I might of been able to of sorted this out earlier or chase up my refund. I am certainly not going to book the room until I have received my deposit back. I might this time tell DU no and book directly. Sorry if this is scrambled and does not make any sense I am trying to cook dinner as well as be on here.

might not be that free if you then buy into dvc.Once you tried dvc hard not to buy

Michelle, I don't regret booking with DU at all. All I was saying is that I was a little surprised that Lou had been able to get the upgrade as I thought she'd booked with a TA. Disney (quite rightly) told me today (as DU already had) that because we've booked through a TA any offer of upgrade and subsequent agreement to said offer would HAVE to go through the TA. Part of me is wondering, if we hadn't booked through DU, whether someone at Disney might have been kind enough to just offer me the upgrade even if there wasn't a PIN code attached to my name, as Lou says happened to her. The only reason I tired is, as I said, I thought Lou was booked through DU also and thought if it worked for her it may work for me. I had already asked DU when the upgrades were first offered and was told then that any offer would come through them.

But, not for one minute do I regret booking with DU. They have been nothing but helpful and we have made several changes in our dining requests, which have been dealt with promptly. Our agent is Dorothy - if you are having 'problems' with the agent you've been assigned, it may be worth asking if you can change - Dorothy has been 100% efficient and helpful from day 1 :thumbsup2

OK let me start at the beginning.

When I first heard about the free upgrades I contacted Disney to ask if I was eligable. They said that I was but as I booked through DU I had to contact them. I then phoned their office and was told to speak to my advisor. I emailed her and she come back saying that if anything is offered to DU that we would be contacted straight away. So I felt a bit dissapointed as everybody else seemed to be getting an upgrade but not be.

When looking at the boards yesterday I thought that it was worth at least another try with Disney. I called them and told them that I had heard about the free upgrade and was I one of the lucky ones. I gave them my details and they looked me up (bizzare as I booked through an agent but maybe they had my details from other things) they then asked if I booked with them I said no I was with DU. After sounding really disappointed I asked the CM if I made a new booking would I be eligable for the free upgrade. She checked with some other people and told me that if I made the booking she would upgrade me to SSR (and I would still get my free dining) obviously I jumped at that and made a new booking.

So as it stands at the moment I have 3 holiday bookings

2 nights at ASMo (we get there a couple of days before the dining starts so have room only) which we booked with DU and got the AAA discount

then

14 nights at ASMo (booked through DU with free dining and 10 day park hooper)
14 nights at SSR (booked through Disney with free dining and 10 day park hooper)

All I have to do now is cancel the 14 nights at ASMo with DU. I have only paid the $200 (which I should get back) and will do that as soon as I receive my confirmation through the post. Even if I end up losing $200 I think its a small price to pay for the upgrade.

I have been very happy with the service that I received from DU and would book with them again but the chance of an upgrade was too good an opportunity to miss...............It works out that I have even saved money, only about $30 but hey thats a couple of drinks one night.

I guess it just goes to show that in some cases if you dont ask you dont get.

You would not believe the smile on my face when I spoke to the CM yesterday. I still cannot believe it.

Thanks for the explanation Lou. I must admit, if we were staying 14 nights, I might have been tempted to go down that route but, for 4, it's hardly worth it. You will love SSR, I'm sure - as Paulh says, it may cost you money because it's very hard to resist DVC once you've stayed there - just ask my husband :rotfl:

:cool1: :cool1:
Congratulations on the up grade
:cool1: :cool1:

but will you come back with DVC points :rolleyes1

you will have put aside $16,000+ to pay for this upgrade honest:rotfl2:
