Free Upgrades for later dates??

I saw on another thread where both standard and preferred bookings were being upgraded. I'm at the POP from 9-17 to 9-27 and oh how I'd love 11 days at a deluxe resort. I'm diligently checking my email at regular intervals. I'll let you guys know if I get anything. Good Luck to all of us!

It has nothing to do with Standard or Preferred (I had a standard room at ASMu). It's a randomly generated offer to people who are staying at Pop or the All Stars with arrival dates between 8/26 and 9/1. Hopefully they'll expand the dates, but so far its been just based on what hotel you're at, when you arrive and computer generated pixie dust.

Does anyone know if they are upgrading both standard and preferred room reservations? I booked a standard room and although I haven't read all of the posts, the ones that I did read mentioned they had preferred rooms originally booked. Just wondering if I even have a shot.

Yep!!! I just called and asked and that is exactly what I was told!!

Nothing for us so far but I'm still hoping but not holding my breath!!!

Do you think the number of times you've been to WDW is factored in? I mean if you are going to get people over to the DVC, wouldn't you go for the group that have visited many times? They always ask how many times you've visited. What kind of numbers do the lucky few have???

If I booked through a travel agent do I have a shot at an upgrade?

An upgrade would solve my problem of "Do we do POP again or try something different", who can refuse a free upgrade

Shoegirl, so far based on everyone's posts, it seems only those who booked directly through disney got the offer. But the DIS does only represent a small fraction of the general population.......so who knows?

Do you think the number of times you've been to WDW is factored in? I mean if you are going to get people over to the DVC, wouldn't you go for the group that have visited many times? They always ask how many times you've visited. What kind of numbers do the lucky few have???

One person on another thread said this was their first Disney trip. Some said 2nd-3rd. Others had been many times. I doesn't seem like a factor.

Oh I so hope that one of us will soon be posting that we got this upgrade for late September! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! I cannot even imagine the excitement! I am already so excited about free dining for the third year in a row. This upgrade would just be amazing! I think DD might be wondering where the giant Big Wheels are at the hotel though, IF we do get this super lucky upgrade. This will be our first time at Pop and she is so excited after seeing the pictures - so is DH, he is such a big kid! Both of them think it looks way more fun that WL or POFQ which is where we have stayed in the past! I will be on no matter where we stay, but this upgrade would be so fantastic. I think the in-room washer and dryer would be the greatest ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I so hope so too. I was telling my best friend last night about it, we are traveling together and have 2 rooms prefer. at asmo's. I described both OKW and SSR to her and said which one would you prefer incase we get the offer and have to decide asap. We both agree on OKW. Oh I so hope so. I looked online for my timeframe and there are still rooms at music and sports so that was a bit of a downer. But only time will tell I guess.

I'm staying after free dining, at the end of September into October. No discount codes, nothing so far. Would be nice to get something .

Uh, guys, hate to rain on anyone's parade, 'cause it's always great to get a better room, but all the DVC rooms are completely sold out (with waiting lists)in early October because the Food & Wine Fest starts Sept 29. That doesn't mean you couldn't get an upgrade, but it won't be into OKW or SSR.

Sold out for DVC members, or Cash reservations? The waiting lists for DVC members does not affect this inventory at all. The rooms being used for this upgrade are not out of the DVC inventory. Disney owns a small percentage of the rooms that they use for cash reservations, this upgrade comes from there. Not the member inventory.

So yes if you call CRO and there are no openings for SSR and OKW during that time frame, then the chance of this happening are slim to none.

As for the idea of the food and wine festival keeping DVCs booked? I was able to book both SSR and OKW for dates 9/22 to 9/29 in either a studio, 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom. (with and without free dinning) I also heard that the first few weeks of Dec are ALOT more popular due to the weather, low crowds, and holiday decorations.

Woooo I hope that's the case! We're travelling 9/9-9/17 and would LOVE an upgrade (but would LOVE staying at POP as well... but one can always hope/dream! That's what Disney's all about, right?)

I called on Friday and asked the CM if people that used a TA could have a chance at the upgrade and she said No, that its only 4 people that booked threw disney.....so I asked to speak with a supervisor and I asked him the same question and his reply was the same,....he said there computer randomly selects people 4 the upgrade and sends them the email....If you booked with a TA your email will not be in there system therefor you dont have a chance at the upgrade. I was sooo disappointed when they told me because we booked threw a TA. ohwell, maybe we will get lucky when we are there with the YOMD. My sister (whos going with us) booked online threw disney, so she will have a shot at it.
