Saw this in the Orlando Sentinel. It explains the timing of the commercials and how the free tickets will be given out. If someone has already posted this sorry for the duplicate.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Universal Orlando has given away the last of the free tickets it offered in a trio of commercials yesterday.
The resort stopped distributing them as of noon today, said spokesman Tom Schroder.
Universal won't say exactly how many freebies it gave away, though. While each commercial offered free tickets to the first 100,000 people who applied online, each also had a deadline by which people had to apply.
Here's a breakdown: The first commercial aired at roughly 12:15 p.m., which started the clock on the first 100,000 tickets. But those tickets were only available until about 6:15 p.m. -- when Universal's second spot appeared and triggered the start of the second 100,000. Those tickets were available until halftime, when the third and final commercial aired and started the clock on the final batch, which, Schroder said, were being awarded until noon today.
It's possible that all 300,000 were snapped up. But it's also possible that fewer were, if there were less than 100,000 requests between commercials. (It's also possible that more than 100,000 people applied between commercials, meaning some folks were shut out.)
Though the resort won't talk numbers, Schroder said Universal is "very pleased with the reception."
"It absolutely created the excitement we wanted it to create," he said.
Here's a bit of good news: Because at least some of the final 100,000 tickets were still available right up until today's noon deadline, Universal says anyone who requested a ticket after the third commercial last night should be getting a freebie.
