My new tip, (it's probably been mentioned already) is to save free samples that you get in glossy magazines, stuff like shampoo, shower gel, lotions etc. These little sachets take up next to no room in your suitcase, and best of all they're free! Also scout the net for free sample sites. I've already got enough shampoo and conditioner for our 14 day trip next year!

I only know of a british one that I visit which is britishfreebies.com, but if you go to google (or any other search engine!) type in free stuff/samples or freebies, you'll be greeted with many websites!

a good free sample site is www.yes-its-free.com. great tip!, do it all the time and lets you try new things. also startsampling.com but you can only get one a day there and not the bunch from the other one. however most take 1-2months to come Hope this is ok to post here, sorry if it isn't

If you want to take make-up with you on your trip and not really think of it as a large loss, but won't stand for loseing a $24.00 lipgloss, go to the counters and ask for samples of the make-up you try on! They usually are a pretty good size and it FREE so you don't have to worry about losing it. Also you can have a great time trying out new things!

The best brands for samples (IMHO) is Stila and MAC. They have GREAT sizes and for some MAC things (such as the pigment and lipglass, it could last you FOREVER!)

Tips:

1.Always act reallllllllly nice to all of the workers. They may slip you a good deal or a whole bunch more samples!

2.Never be too picky. That is a sure fire way to get gipped.

3.Buy an item, it can help.

Tips on what to ask for:

Mac-Pigment (can me used on lips, eyes, nails, and cheeks, and a little goes a LONGGG way), Lipglass, and basically everything but the brushes. Everything therebasically seems to have samples. (BTW, thier "paint" is great.)

Stila:The demi-gloss lip stick (I belive it's called), the lipglaze, and lip things, and eye shawdow.

Hi,
If you or one of your children have a dentist appointment anytime before your trip, ask the hygenist if there are any paste samples available. I was there last Thursday and after I was given my usual toothbrush and floss sample ( also great for traveling), I asked about toothpaste samples, telling my hygenist that I was going on vacation in two weeks. She was happy to give me two of those little tubes. Sure, one of them was a kid's paste but what the heck, it was free and they fit perfectly into my folding toiletries bag.
Thanks for the other great suggestions. I went through my odds and ends and found several of those little Avon perfume samples that will be fun to try on my trip.... in just a few more days, yeah!
