Free room night questions

I was reading on another thread that concierge rooms were recently being included on the contracts for the free room night. I don't get my contract until September so I am not sure what I am going to get.

So here is my question... We are planning on staying at the Boardwalk since that is where the wedding is. If we use our free night there what are the chances of us getting upgraded to concierge for the whole stay? Has this happened to anyone?

I know this is a lot of "ifs" but we are trying to decide if we would be better off renting DVC points. We are only staying in Disney for a few days so I want to minimize the moving around if I can. But I have also always loved the Poly...

We recently got back our confirmed ressie for our free night at the Poly, and it's just been booked as a standard garden view room....

In the last three years of following this board, I have only heard of them *not* giving a Concierge-level room as the complimentary night just a handful of times, and usually that was from someone who got married a while ago.

However, the instances of hearing about someone being upgraded to Concierge for the entire stay are fewer and farther between. You could make a guess based on the season you are going and whether or not you were hoping for this to happen at BoardWalk (convention hotel, might be more people filling Concierge rooms there) or the Poly (non-convention hotel, but Concierge seems to be popular there), but I would say to plan for the "worst" - that you will not get an upgrade - so you won't be disappointed.

We rented DVC points for our honeymoon and used our free night as our last night. This minimized moving around and kinda ended our trip with a bang.

Thanks for all the info! It is sounding like renting DVC points with the free night at the Poly is going to be the way to go. Now I just have to convince DF that renting points from a stranger on the internet isn't crazy..
