Free Pins??

Hello everyone, I have been going to WDW regularly for the past 13 years. My wife and I became DVC members in 2005. During our latest trip to WDW, (9/12- 915) my two kids, wife and myself started collecting/trading pins and have become hooked. I have heard rumors of getting free pins at restaraunts and shops for spending a certain amount of money. Has anyone else heard this? Is there any information out there for which places provide this service?

I believe your talking about the pins released in Disneyland. They are gifts with purchase at certain eateries in the park and require a certain amount be spent. I can't recall them all right now but there have been a few released recently, in DL though not in WDW.

If you have to spend money, then they are not free.

If you take certain tours at WDW, you will recieve a pin as part of your package. My DD has received pins from the Keys to the Kingdom, Backstage Magic, Undiscovered Futureworld, Backstage Safari, Segway, and the Dolphin in Depth tours/programs. These pins are harder to come by because the tours themselves are not cheap.

....and you have to be a DL AP....my WDW AP didn't work.

I believe there is an option during free dining to alleviate the table service restaurants, that is you use a TS at a counter service you also get a lanyard and 2 pins with your meal. maybe this was it

I'll just add that I received a couple of 'free pins' this last trip!
First, along with my travel packet from Disney travel (free dining at the Pop), I received a voucher to exchange for a free pin. This was somehow involved with Pin Trading cause the pin was actually two pins( both the same): one to keep and one to trade. Another time was when I decided to talk to a DVC salesperson and sign up for a tour ...she gave my friend and I both a pin and a DVC hat!!!!!! Wow!!!!!

And then when I admired someone's pin (a CM) but didn't have a pin of my own to trade, he just gave me the pin!

I must admit, Disney has been so kind to me lately...DVC sent me a giclee print about a week ago and altho they are sending them out to everyone (in DVC), I got mine long before most everyone else!

During our August trip to WDW we stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and there was a man taking care of the DVC podium. He was an older gentleman who told me he sometimes goes on the cruises as well to represent DVC.

He was wearing a special DVC pin - I commented on it and he said it was only available to those CM's who work on the cruise ship.

It is a pin with a pluto on it and 2006 with a DVC sign hanging off the bottom that sais under Pluto's ear I know the secret - He then gave me the pin. Magic at it's finest

The other free pins that we received were the Disney Cruise line Bus pins which were an extra with the package we ordered. We also got a bunch of SSR pins when we visited there.

We started collecting pins before collecting pins at WDW became fashionable {and outrageously expensive} When ever we made a trip to WDW from our home {at the time} in N.J. we would purchase a pin from whatever resort we stayed at during each trip, which sometimes was 3 times a year. Then we also started collecting ones from each country around WS. We were also able to purchase the rare theme park pin when they were made available. And amazingly, there were not many pins other then those I have described, other then the occassional "specialty" pin. Now they make a pin for just about everything that the suckers,errr,. .. guests, will buy.
