Is this true?

We are staying at Pop in November. We wanted to go to US/IOA for a day, but didn't want to rent a car. We can get a free ride from Pop to US??

How does it work? Pickup times are when? Where?

Thanks

go to the concierge in your disney resort lobby.
all resorts have that service now.

sign up for the mears shuttle to universal the night before.
you will be picked up at your resort for the sign up time you listed.
the shuttle can do other disney resorts for more pick ups though.

you will be dropped at universal.
you can return anytime back to disney.
just make the call to mears for your return pick up.

it costs $18 rt pp.
kids fare costs a bit less.

nothing is free at disney.

you might be better off renting a car or taking a taxi if you have a lot of people in your group.
if it is just 2 or 3 peeps needing the service, it would be $36 or 54 then.

I was just looking for information to get from Disney to Universal too. I clicked on the ad at the top of this forum which offers a ticket with the transportation included... $85.99 adult and $75.99 child. Maybe that's what you were thinking of in getting the transportation for 'free'. It doesn't look like a bad deal since it's $73 for a one day/one park ticket and $89.99 for a one day/two park ticket without transportation.

This is what you get for the package that includes transportatio for $85.99:
You receive a 1-Day/2-Park experience with transportation to Universal Orlando from your Disney Area Hotel.

* Includes roundtrip transfers to Universal Orlando Resort from Disney Area Hotels, including the Official Disney World Resort Hotels.
* One (1) day admission to Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure
* This special offer is only available for advance purchase!

Transfers provided by Mears Transportation

Transfer Schedule:

To Universal Orlando Resort: This service is available 24-hours a day except between the hours of 10:00am and 3:00pm. Pick-up time will be determined by calling Mears Transportation at least 24-hours in advance to arrange your pick-up time from the hotel.

From Universal Orlando Resort: Pick-up time with Mears can be arranged when making your initial reservation or by calling Mears from the parks a minimum of 90 minutes prior to your desired pick-up time.

Length of Transfer: Varies by hotel; however approximately 30 minutes each way.

Documentation Instructions: You will receive an Electronic transfer coupon with this purchase. You must present a valid photo ID with your transfer coupon at the time of pick-up from your hotel.

Additional Information: Valid hotels for this shuttle are located in the Lake Buena Vista, Walt Disney World and Hwy. 192W area.

What you see on the banner is an advertisement from Dreams Unlimited. It is a good deal since that is the price you would normally pay for a 1 day/2 park ticket. If you plan on going for more than one day though, it is a terrible deal. 7 day passes can be purchased for $99.

You want to make sure that the shuttle is not going to stop at 15 hotels after they pick you up and take an hour and a half to get there though.

I've found the easiest and least expensive option is to rent a car. Driving from WDW to US and back is really easy and is well marked. I also like the convenience of coming and going on my schedule.

so true.
you don't know how many other resorts you will stop at for pick ups when you go.

it is a good deal to take that mears shuttle if you are going solo to the darkside.

damo is so correct on the other point.

if you want to go multiple days, the banner ad is not the best.
it is a good thing for a one day only adventure.

the mears shuttle is different from the dreams unlimited promo

totally agree with darcy also :thumbsup2
if you have many in your group, it would be cheaper renting a car for the day.

having the schedule you want to use is always the best.

I just saw this post and we were going to purchase the 1 day/2 park ticket option and rent a car.....this is cheaper then the 89.99 and will save us on the car rental, parking and gas so I think we are going to go this route.
