For all of you who have been making up "phantom" phone numbers for offers, there is a much better way! You can got to http://www.privatephone.com/ and get a FREE phone number to use! Someone here (sorry - don't remember who) mentioned this awhile ago and I have been using it ever since. It is super easy to sign up of and perfect for the purpose of signing up for offers :thumbsup2

Ok...is it really free? And on that note, is there someone who will give us credit for using it??????
Thanks!!!!

HayGan is right...privatephone is awesome!

I have been using my 'fake number' for all my offers and love it. It is super easy to sign up too! You can log on and listen to ALL those people trying to sell you stuff or just hit delete delete delete delete ;)

LOVE IT

I signed up with privatephone last week for my free number. Works great. I did encounter a problem though. Apparently, not all area codes are available. Since I couldn't find my home area code, I got one for my work place. Later, when I signed up for a survey, it wouldn't let me proceed. It kept asking me for a phone number for my area. I used my home address and the new privatephone number. I ended up bailing on that survey.

Just wanted to let you all know.

I had the same problem with some of the smaller (.30 to .50) signups!! Oh well, better than having people call the house and getting the "evil eye" from my husband ;)

OMG, I LOVE you!!!:rotfl:

I remembered reading about this a while back and then I lost the thread and got sidetracked and never signed up. This is wonderful! I hate having to screen my calls all the time and getting calls for months after signing up for 30 cents, lol!

I know I love it too! I listened to a couple of my messages this morning and deleted the rest...lol

When I first started I gave out my husband's cell phone # because he is overseas and his US phone doesn't work there. They can leave a message on it, but he'll never get it lol

I hope he doesn't have a bunch of people calling him when he comes home  Maybe by then they'll have given up!

My area is not listed. Is there any other service like this? I want to do this!

yes this service is great - a HUGE thanx to whoever first posted it. I logged on there a couple of mornings ago and I had about 26 voice mails from people trying to sell stuff.

I also memorized the number to give out to all those retailers who want a phone number for their marketing lists before they'll ring up your purchases. It saves me alot of hassle at the cash register.

Mine wasn't either, but I signed up. With people able to use VOIP, there numbers are all over the place. I figured it would be fine.

Just wanted to bump this up and let people know there are new numbers available now. So, go get em!!

THANK YOU!
I checked when this was first posted, and they didn't have it in my area...
Now they do... thank you!

Wow, it was in my area too!

How wonderful.

Thanks to the OP for posting this, and thanks for bumping it back up!

Thank you! I was using the k7 private numbers but some offers wouldn't let me use it because it was not a local area. There is now a private phone number in my location so I snatched one!

They are SO nice to have.

Man I have this guy calling DAILY from Quicken Loans...WOW...ANNOYING...even if I wanted to refinance I wouldn't with him...WAY TOO PERSISTENT...

But I cannot imagine not having one of these numbers. I use that number or my old one that we disconnected like 6 months ago.

So what do you do if they don't have your area code? Will most surveys accept it if your zip & area code don't match??? I don't want to use a dummy number if I can help it because it may be someone's number (I'd hate for them to get telemarketer calls on my behalf) but nothing is worth getting those call at my home either...
