Free Palo dinner

The free dinner at Palo is for the Platinum member any anyone else in the same cabin. If she's not in your stateroom then the free dinner isn't offered to her in place of your 18 year old. So she cannot eat for free unless she's in your stateroom.

could you not make the reservation in your and your daughters name and just not have your daughter show up but your friend come instead? i'm trying to remember but i don't think they ask for all the stateroom keys, only one, so they would probably not even know its another person.

Sigh

I don't understand the snarky "sigh." She isn't trying to take your Palo dinner.
The 18 year old doesn't want to go. It would be the same as if she gave her Club bag or lanyard to the friend. Would you have a problem with that too?
It isn't as if DCL is losing a lot of money on what they spend on frequent cruisers (the rewards program has very few "perks").

Because the restrictions on the Castaway Club website state "Available to Platinum Castaway member and Guests staying in member's stateroom".

Trying to hide the fact that they are bringing someone from another room by saying "the other person in my room doesn't want to come", is basically abusing the perk.

And we are finding out what happens when people abuse perks. Take a look at the recent alcohol policy change. And the "no more Mickey Mail" situation.

i don't see where the opp said that the friend had a separate cabin. i do see where she said the friend would use her key card. maybe i missed something but i assumed the friend was in the same cabin, nothing indicates she's not. if they are all in the same cabin but only mom and daughter are platinum then i don't understand how this is wrong.
we don't use palo, it doesn't interest us so i'm obviously not in the know. i'm missing something.

Agreed, the original post doesn't say whether the friend is in the same room or a different room. But, IMO, the wording "possible for my friend to use her room key and come to palo and get the free dinner" makes it seem that the friend would be using the daughter's room key and using that to identify herself as the daughter (in the same room).

If the friend is, indeed, already booked in the same room with OP, there would be no reason for the question.

It doesn't matter that the daughter (or the friend) isn't platinum, as long as they are in the same room as the platinum member, they are allowed to book the meal perk. As noted it's for "Platinum Castaway member and Guests staying in member's stateroom".

Due to the wording of the OP's initial post, and the fact that she wondered how closely they check, it gives the impression that the "friend" is not in her cabin. If they all share the cabin and are over 18, there would have been no reason to ask the question, because the OP only needed to look at DCL's Platinum benefits for the correct answer. ;)

BTW - For anyone over 18 sharing a cabin with a Platinum member who wants to dine free at Palo, they MUST be accompanied by the Platinum member. They can not show up without them and receive the free dinner. Note: I realize that is not an issue for the OP. ;)

okay, so I reread and reread the original thread. what I was reading was 'possible for my friend to use her room key' meaning her friend to use her own room key which indicated to me that the friend was staying in the same stateroom. what everyone else seems to be reading is 'possible for my friend to use her room key' where the 'her' means the daughter and wanting the daughters room key to be used. I see it now but I did not see it when I was answering.
as for the meal being for the platinum member and anyone else staying in the cabin, I always thought that meant the main person in the cabin being platinum and the rest of the guests who are platinum. as I say, we do not enjoy palo so we have never taken up the offer. i had booked for brunch on our last cruise but canceled a few months out because I did not like the way they serve. we had palo call our cabin to try and book for our second sailing but we declined that as well.
so anyways, I guess I learned something. I like to learn things much more than I like to get a 'sigh'. sometimes i get things wrong and its nice when it is explained. sorry to all who have been offended in anyway.

tinkerone - It is the question of whether they "check very closely" that seemed to imply the friend would be trying to get away with using the daughter's key card in order to appear to be in the same cabin. Perhaps the OP will post again to clarify.

My sincere apology; I read your response (and the phrase "they would not even know") as justification for sneaking in someone not qualified for a free Palo dinner. I see so many people on this board giving hints how to be dishonest with Disney, and it saddens me, that I was ready to read that into your response. It seems clear to me that is what the OP wants to do.

Sorry! Your comments were quite appropriate believing the third person was in the same cabin. In fact, everyone in that cabin gets the free dinner with the Palo member. But fooling Disney by sneaking in others is not right.
