The filters used for the ice are better than the ones at the water fountains/sinks, so melted ice water is cold and tastes better. We took two wide-mouth refillable Rubbermaid bottles and filled them up with hotel ice before we left in the morning for WDW and Universal. Throughout the day, we poured the melted water into one bottle to drink. We asked for ice whenever we emptied a bottle, or filled it ourselves if it was a self-serve drink dispenser.
One stand in Epcot gave us two cups of ice instead of filling the bottle directly because they weren't scooping the ice - it was dispensed from the soda machine. It was easier to fill the bottles with ice cubes using a cup rather than holding it under the fountain-drink ice dispenser or the hotel ice maker. Fewer cubes got away with the cup/scoop.
My kids bought the collectible Harry Potter butterbeer mugs, so we had a few sodas using that, but for the most part, we stuck with ice water, even with meals.
DH bought me a souvenir Lorax water bottle at Universal, so I've been using that throughout the day as I work, rather than getting cold sodas from the fridge. I needed to drink more water and it's so pretty, I enjoy each sip and think about what a good time we had on vacation.
