I have tummy issues with the water that comes from the tap in FL. I thought I read somewhere that the water that comes from the soda fountain machine is filtered. Can anyone confirm?

TIA

Yes the water from Soda and coffee dispensers is usually filtered. Try carrying your ice in a cup and drinking water from a fountain with it. It will taste different you may like that also.

Earlier this month DW and I spent $0 on grab & go beverages in the parks over 8 days. We brought sport style water bottles to take advantage of the free water from CS locations & snack locations with fountain beverages. The water was great, not like the unfiltered water at the fountains. This helped us to stay away from soda to keep our weight loss on track (although now many places offer Coke Zero, yippee, I hate Diet Coke)!

How funny! I just tried Coke zero for the first time this past week and it wasn't anything like my wonderful diet Coke. It's interesting how they are different.

Anyways, thanks for the info everyone. After 8 trips to WDW you'd think I would know this. This will help me alot when I go in the heat of Sept.

WDW is cutting back on the free water. Several times I could ONLY get a small cup of ice water at c/s. Just wanted to throw that out there. As others have stated, it does taste filtered though.

the water in mk doesnt seem to taste as good as the other parks for some odd reason. sometimes we could even taste it in the soda. the water at animal kingdom, epcot and hollywood studios dont seem to have a funny taste.

regarding the free water, we went a month ago and were on the dining plan and would ask for a cup of water along with our included drink at basically every cs and every time but once, they gave us a regular sized cup of ice water, not kid sized. it was very good to carry around the park after our meal so we didnt have to spend money on bottled water.

I like Diet Pepsi, not Diet Coke. Not regular Pepsi, as I think regular Coke is best, but I don't want the calories, so I have totally LOVED Coke Zero from the moment I first tried it.

Me too, I love Coke, like Diet Pepsi, hate Diet Coke, hate Pepsi. Coke Zero was a gift sent from God. Drinking Coke kept me from being able to lose weight no matter what I did, but with Coke Zero I have lost 35-40 pounds in about 6 weeks!!!! Trying to get to 225-250 so I can take the Segway tour at Epcot!! :woohoo:

We had no problem getting free water. They could not directly fill our sport bottles due to health regs, but they gave us as many 20oz cups of ice water as we needed to fill our two 36 oz bottles.

Just know, not all water you get free at CS comes from the fountain machine. I got some free water at Main St. Bakery and the lady filled the cup with ice using the machine, but then went to the sink and filled it up with water from there.

Good to know and watch for. Maybe if i request ice water from the soda fountain specifically. Most of the time I'll be making another purchase. I'll know within a day how the water effects me.

At the CS Back-Lot Express I asked for a large cup of ice water and she said she could only give me small cups. Maybe it had something to do with SWW and all the people around.

At Marrakesh they handed me a smaller non-Disney cup (white plastic) for ice water. It wasn't very good, not enough ice, and kind of annoying since I had gotten my food to go and there was no lid to fit that cup.

At least one other place they gave us the small cups, but honestly, I can't remember where.

Other places we rec'd the larger cups.

YMMV

We did have one person try that, but then we asked to have it from the soda fountain and they obliged.....just have to be sure and specify at times. We even had a problem at one location because a CM was new.....I ordered a chicken strip basket and a large ice water for DW and I to share, then she gave us a total of $11-$12. I asked her how the total was about $3 too much, and she said the charge was for the water......of course I told her ice water was free......she insisted she was required to charge for ice water.....when her manager came over to cancel my order she informed the girl there was a difference between "ice water" and bottled water. You would think that basic thing would be clear before they are put onto the register.......from that point on I only ordered "a cup of free ice water" so no confusion was possible.

By the way JeffGoldblum, loved you in The Fly, Independence Day, Jurassic Park, and Powder........not so much in the Jurassic sequels or Law and order!! I hope you can get the career back on track!! ;) :rotfl2:

Please clarify. Does C/S mean Concession Stand? :confused3

I'd like to cut down on the cost of bottled water in the parks, and ice water is much more refreshing to me anyway.

Can we get a cup of free ice water anytime we eat at any of the food shops in the Disney parks? :cool1:

How about in between meals? Where should we go for ice water then?

We are visiting all 4 parks at then end of June, so we'll be very thirsty!

Thanks!!

Jill

if you have issues with taste or water upsetting your stomach you may want to invest in a filtered water bottle. we got ours at an outdoor shop for hiking. you can put any water in there and it filters out the impurities. We have used ours for 4 years and it still works great!

CS is DIS shorthand for Counter Service. Basically, any restaurant in which you have to go up to a counter to order your food. They will all give you ice water. My own opinion, if they give it to you in a small cup, I would say "Could I please have a larger cup?" and if the person says no, ask for the floor manager, and repeat the question (politely). I am sure you could get it in a larger cup. Disney in general will bend over backwards to make the guests happy, and that includes large cups of ice water.

I was told by a CM that they have to give the small cups of ice water. The larger ones are counted or something and they can't be out in #.

The CM was very helpful (wasn't busy) and she just used the same disposable cup to fill up our reusable water bottles and mugs. I got water for my neighbours, my niece and myself. I hated the thought of wasting about 5 cups and straws when we had water bottles and mugs that could be used.

Yes it is usually filtered and is where they usually get the free water from at CS locations. However it still has a weird taste to it. Even after adding drink packs to it. So if you have issues I would be sure to bring either bottled water or a filter bottle of some sort.

I think it has that taste because it has more sulfer in it than most of us are use to. I agree the water fountains are much worst though.
