Free Hotel Upgrade?

I loved it when you used to get the Disney plastic cutlery featuring the characters, I used to bring those home but I haven't seen them in a long time !

My sister and her family got a free upgrade from Camp Davy Crockett to the SL due to a problem with the heating, they got meal vouchers and everything ... I can only dream of an upgrade x

The little details are what make the trip!

Whilst I don't blag, I do admit to having some Disney soaps and Shampoo in my cupboard.... And a sachet of Disney sugar....!

What no Baloo honey pot ?
OMG Don't go there you wouldn't believe what I bring back ;)

I know 2 people that have been ugraded once from the SL to the DLH (in high season  ) and from NPB to HYN.. So you never know, you may get that extra bit of pixie dust.

Have a magical trip whatever happens.:goodvibes

To go back to the OP's original question, we had a free room upgrade last time, well 2 adjoining rooms in fact, from lodge (standard) rooms to a Montana kindof lakeside room, well you knew the lake was there somewhere behind the trees. :lmao:

I think the quote I got for the Davy Crockett was actually more expensive than the quote for SL, so it may not have been an 'upgrade' moneywise - perhaps that's why they gave meal vouchers. :confused3

Twice we have been given Lake View rooms in SL when we hadn't booked them. I always thought the price of Lake View was a lot extra and wouldn't pay it, but I'm quite happy to have it for free. :goodvibes

The lakeside view is an extra £40 and that's what I would be crossing my fingers for rather than the DLH! :) . I like free stuff too and anything unexpected is a lovely bonus. We had adjoining rooms at Santa Fe and the extra space is very nice.

We were upgraded from a standard room to a lake view room at HNY when we went in feb.:cool1:
It was nice to have but do not think I would pay the extra to have it through choice as I belive the room sizes are the same throughout the hotel.
However, I do think it makes the holiday extra special to recieve an upgrade of any kind.:lovestruc

OMG I have baloo honey pot :rotfl: :lmao: ,so glad to know there are so many other odd people:lmao: now where did I put that old popcorn box :lmao: just joking

The first time we went we booked HNY as it was just DH and myself. I got a call from Disney 2 days before we went to say that they had overbooked the HNY due to a conference and would we mind changng to DLH!!!!! Of course, we agreed. The room wasn't the best - no view as such as it looked over the roof of the swimming pool but who cares.

The a few years ago we booked 2 rooms with our DVC points - they should have just been standard lodge rooms - but when we got there they had upgraded us to lake view Montana rooms.

Well my logic for our visit is that it is the last day of the extra day and night free offer in the halloween season, so it will be rather busy. My other logic is we will be late to arrive, so might arrive last and they might discover, whoops we have no rooms spare, lets give these people an upgrade.

W#i have also told them the trip is a birthday treat for my daughter.

Well a girl can dream you know.

Nothing wrong with dreaming...:) I daydream about it all the time!

We got upgraded from Montana room to Montana room lakeside view last time when we checked in and went to the rooms only to find they smelt strongly of smoke and hadn't been made up from the previous occupants.

Huummmm i wasnt rexpecting it to be that busy TBH, as the holidays have started then.

Anyone ever heard of a free CC upgrade from a normal DLH room?

Each day I dream of that lounge.....but it would double the cost of my stay....

someone on here a few years ago got a free upgrade from a hotel (Newport pay I think) to DLH Castle Club in January, I think their trip report is in the sticky.

I think it is lovely for people to be given a surpise upgrade and it is lovely to hear stories about people being surpised about getting one however on the other hand I think it is cheeky if people try and get one for free because they want something and are not willing to pay for something, I hope disney don't give free upgrades to people who ask.

You're not the only one and I'd also love a free upgrade to CC, although I doubt it will happen. ;)

I think it's daft that they don't apply the offers to it, as it makes the upgrade twice as expensive during the cheap winter season as it is during the expensive summer season.

It must be such a nice surprise to turn up expecting one thing and then getting so much more. It must make the holiday so much more magical.

I wonder how they take these things into account,

ie

do they look at peoples birthdays and go oh it's their birthday lets give them a birthday surprise.

Or do you think they just see some nice people come in or excited kids and go i like them lets give them a treat!

I think it could be more the people that serve you that give out the magic rather then the Disney company themselves.

I agree, I hope they dont either!

I hope they don't give them to people who ask either. Its always the pushy, cheeky ones who get everything in life and I don't think its fair that just because you're not pushy and are content to get what you've paid for, you don't get nice things. I think it should be left totally up to the upgrade fairy who gets one and who doesn't. I personally think if people ask about it, they should have to pay for it as they were obviously so desperate to get it!

However, thats just me and I'm sure a lot of people would disagree, but thats just what I think is fair. :goodvibes
