Hi,

We had a wonderful time visiting with the 75 Mickey statues this week in Washington, DC....they were really neat,,,the kids had a blast,,we even found hidden mickeys!!!! If you have a chance, and need a little disney fix, try to go and see them!!! they will be touring the country, but all 75 are in DC (smaller amounts to different cities over the summer)

have fun!!

Wendy...we are schedule to go in a few weeks. (We've been waiting for months!) Anything special we should know...time to go, fees, etc,

TIA

Hi Sandy,

Okay,,,,its FREE!!! bring lots of film, or clean out your digital camera cause its fun to take pictures of them all. We went on a monday and got there just a little after lunch. You can get into the courtyard with out going through the ronald regan building, but if you want to go inside to see the last 2 mickeys or eat at the food court then you will have to go through the security station and they will check adults ID's. if you have little ones in strollers, and you load up the basket underneath with stuff ( we did) it will be easier for you if all the stuff is in one bag so you can just grab it and put it through the xray,,,our stuff was all loose and was a pain to take in and out.

I'd say parking is the biggest challenge there,,,we had a meter parking space, and i would have to say it was a pain,,,time went so quickly. our idea for our next trip is to bring our bikes and park in one of the free parking lots by the river nice and early. then we could ride our bikes around the mall to all the museums and the memorials as well.

the food court was nice and had a lot of selections from pizza to hoagies to sushi to icecream!!! nice and clean, a tiny bit pricey though. it was nice to go and sit for a break. if you bring lunch, there were some tables and chairs right in the courtyard with the mickeys.

if you have any more questions please let me know!! have a GREAT time!!!

My DD and her family live in close proximity to DC. Exactly where is this located in the city?

Jeez, I live in NoVa & didn't know they were in town! I'd love to take the kids down - how long will they be here & when did they arrive?

Thanks for the info!!

PS Maybe this will give DH the added nudge to let me start planning another trip down. :teeth:

Thanks for posting this! We plan to go either Sunday or next Thursday~ the cherry blossoms are supposed to be at peak starting on Sunday.

Anyone know if this is near the Smithsonium Institute? I am "chaparoning" a field trip on the 21st and would love to be able to see these.
They say we are going to see the monuments too, is that close too?

Hi!
They are in the courtyard at the Ronald Reagan building. As soon as you exit the metro, you are there. We were there yesterday and it wasn't crowded at all which made picture-taking easy! :wave2:

Has anyone heard if Disney might publish a book with pictures of all the statues in it??? I would love to have something like that as I only saw a few of the statues when they were in Dallas. Would make a lovely souvenir of the 75th Anniversary.

We also went this weekend. I live in NoVa and I had family in town. We were just driving around and happen to run into them. If you are visiting D.C. don't try and drive there, parking is tough! Take the metro and get off at Federal Triangle. The Mickey's are located just outside the metro stop!!

I pass them on my bus every morning. The Disney Trivia group is meeting there on April 16th, so I haven't gone to see them (I live near Baltimore), although I may sneak out there one day at lunch. Here's a pic of the Elton John one, taken from the bus: :wizard:

We went this weekend. It was wonderful. I did not read this thread before we left and almost missed the two Mickeys inside the food court. Does anyone know what will happen with the DC Mickey? He did not have a sticker with the artist's name or charity. We took pictures of all of them, but I am still missing one-including the two downstairs. Eventhough it was raining on Saturday when we went, it was still great.
