Free fridges

I just read on another board that starting 8/16 there will be fridges in all mod and deluxe rooms at no charge! This will happen over a 5 month period to get all them in all rooms. This is per a travel agent on intercot.

That would be wonderful. I've been debating whether or not to rent one for our September trip. I haven't decided if the convenience outweighed the added cost. I hope they get to AKL and WL by mid-September.

I sure hope that's true! Then I won't have to lug my own OLD dorm fridge around with me. I refuse to pay almost $11 a night for a fridge I have in my classroom.

They'll just raise the room rates (including AP rates) by $11 a night.

I just talked to a CM at PO riverside and she told me it would be a month or two before they even start the process of putting them in the rooms so no chance for me since I will be there in 5 days LOL!!

The TA said it was starting 8/16 and would be about 5 months before getting them to all the rooms. We always get a fridge on our trips. It is much better then a cooler which I have done and hated.

Where will the put them in the rooms? Usually, they carry them in and plug them in wherever they can find an outlet. Do you think they will build a small area this is out of the way in the room for them?

So eventhough they are going to be free starting on 8/16 if your room doesn't have one and you want one you still have to pay? Doesn't seem exactly fair, does it?

I always wondered why the fridge couldn't be free at WDW resorts. I've been to hotels that have them in the rooms at no charge. Well since I will be at POFQ at the end of October I will hold a good thought that our room will be one of the lucky ones!

Mish19 I was wondering the same thing. I would HOPE that is the case. I have been lucky in the past anyway as it seems that any of my trips of 10 days or more gets me a fridge at no charge. So my last 5 trips I have gotten a free fridge. I know one day I won't be so lucky so hopefully this changes that. I know I will be asking about this at check in!

At the Poly they have alway put the fridge where the table and chairs are right next to the bed. Same thing at the WL. I would imagine they have a certain place that they put them in each resort as it is so no need to build anything or do anything different.

I hope not! If they do then I will move it near the table. That would be silly to have it clear across the room from the table. There isn't much room in the closet as it is.
